3 TIPS FOR BETTER POSTURE 1. Take breaks to get up and move. Prolonged sitting is the position that puts significant pressure on the lower back. It is essential to break up your sitting time throughout the day and take frequent breaks. Schedule standing or walking activities at various times throughout the day to ensure you limit your sitting to about 45-60 minutes. 2. Maintain a healthy weight. Extra weight can wreak havoc on your abdominal muscles, cause issues for your pelvis and spine, and create low back pain. All these can affect your posture, so it’s important to keep your weight in a healthy range. 3. Make your workspace more ergonomic. Whether you’re sitting in front of a computer, cooking dinner, or enjoying a meal, make sure your work surfaces are at a comfortable height for you. Your body is designed to align perfectly to allow proper movement, breathing, and blood circulation. Learning to find your ideal posture is key to moving and feeling better. Poor posture isn’t anything to be embarrassed about - very few people have perfect posture, and most people partake in lousy posture habits in one way or another!

“I’m now able to do the things that I couldn’t do because of pain.” 5 STAR REVIEW
“I first walked into Elite PT on February 24, 2021. I had been in excruciating lower back pain for about 6 weeks, I eventually came to find out through an MRI a few weeks after I began my PT that all the pain was coming from a compression fracture of the spine, 2 types of spinal stenosis and severe degenerative arthritis of the spine. Dan Gardner worked with me from day-1 according to his assessment of my symptoms. After getting those MRI results back I saw that he had just about nailed it as far as the right treatment and therapy to give me. On April 9, 2021 I completed my last day of PT, never missing an appointment. I’m now able to do the things that I couldn’t do because of pain. Thank all you wonderful therapists at Elite, but “Dan, you are the man!” — Elite PT Patient

Tips for Hosting A Great Tailgate
It’s finally fall, which means it’s football season! If you’re anything like us, this is your favorite time of the year. Are you searching for ways to make your tailgate come alive this season? We’ve compiled a list of ways to help your party live up to the hype. 1. Bring a quality speaker It’s no secret that tailgates can get loud. A nice Bluetooth speaker will help you cut through the noise and enjoy your favorite songs with friends and family. 2. Invest in some merch Everyone loves free stuff– and your friends and family are no exception. You don’t have to break the bank to show your guests that you’re looking out for them. Some simple beads, mini flags, or face tattoos will help your guests get into the spirit of the game! 3. Bring blankets Nothing disrupts the mood quite like cold weather. Bringing blankets or hand warmers is a great way to ensure that your tailgate doesn’t freeze over this season. 4. Provide a place to sit Providing seating for your guests helps ensure that everyone is comfortable at your tailgate party. It’s also much easier to eat and enjoy food if you have a place to sit. Lawn chairs and folding chairs are lightweight and portable, making them ideal for tailgate parties. 5. Play tailgate games Setting up games for your guests is a great way to liven up a crowd. Think about bringing cornhole boards, giant Jenga, or a football to pass around to help your guests have a great time. The team at Elite Physical Therapy hopes your tailgates are enjoyable this fall! Let our staff know if you end up following any of the advice on this list. We’re looking forward to seeing you in the office soon!

Engaging the abdominals and squeezing the buttocks, slowly lift hips up towards the ceiling. While your hips are raised, spread your knees apart against the band and let them come back in slowly.
