13) ? Only those who are enlightened by the Spirit know He is more than a man (vs. 16, 17). 7. Want of Concentration—“Whom say ye that I am” (v. 15) ? To concentrate our minds upon Him and have fellowship with Him is to find Him out. 8. Want o f Calculation—“What shall a man give in exchange for his life” (v. 26) ? To calculate the value o f life is to find out the worth of things. — F. E. Marsh. — o — The Three R’s of Spiritual Education 1. Reckon (Rom. 6:11). The Christian must “ reckon” that his own resurrection from the old life is as truly a fact as is Christ’s resurrection from the dead. If we “reckon” that salvation from sin is ours, we naturally “rest” from the burden of condemnation. The fruit of “resting” is “rejoicing.” —I. W. — o — Things That Continue I. 1. Why Preach the Second Coming? 1. It leads to preparedness (Luke 12:40). 2. It centers the mind on heavenly things (Phil. 3:20; Titus 2:11-13). 3. It c o m f o r t s those who mourn 1 Thess. 4:13). 4. It furnishes a strong incentive for holy living (1 John 3:3). 5. It creates willingness to suffer for Christ (1 Pet. 1:7). —E.A.E. — o— Things We Can Not Do Without 1. There is generally a double meaning in Christ’s teaching; a body of fact and a spirit of intent. - 6. Want o f Knowledge—“Whom do men say that I, the son of man, am” (v.

The Lord Has Need of It

Peter lent a boat,, To save Him from the press; Martha lent her home, With busy kindliness. One man lent a colt, Another lent a room; Some threw down their garments, And Joseph lent a tomb. Simon lent his strength, The cruel cross to bear; Many brought their spices,

His body to prepare. What have I to lend?

No boat, no house, no lands; Dwell, Lord, within my heart. I put it in Thy hands. —Christ Life.
