Conventions and Craft provides teachers with 38 weeks of conventions instruction in sentence structure, grammar, punctuation and capitalization, word study, and general editing. Each week, teachers cover one concept or “understanding” using daily 10-minute “micro- workshops.” Over the week, students see the understanding “in action” in a mentor text and piece of student writing, watch the teacher model how to apply the understanding, and try out the understanding in their own writing.
