APPM Induction Luncheon

The APPM, in conjunction with the University of the Philippines Medical Alumni Society in America (UPMASA) and Rotary international , has directed grants to support Operation Braveheart. Operation Braveheart is a charitable program that benefits indigent children with certain congenital heart diseases (i.e. patent ductus arteriosus, atrial septal defect, and ventricular septal defect) in the Philippines. Rather than open heart surgery to close the defect, a transcatheter approach to repair their congenital heart defect is performed at the Philippine General Hospital . This pediatric interventional cardiology procedure has resulted in changing the dismal prognosis from their congenital heart disease to one of hope to achieve their full potential in life. Dr. Jess Socrates is the Coordinator for Operation Braveheart. He sends us regular updates on indigent children with congenital heart disease who have benefited from Operation Braveheart.
