Using weather forecasts, this allows response crews to filter down high-risk vegetation records to only the elements that are likely to become an immediate danger to power lines due to high winds or other immanent weather conditions. This enables companies to better organize – freeing resources and using them only where immediately necessary while preparing for future needs. This unique and innovative platform can also study the impact of extreme weather events on the resiliency of the infrastruc- ture network to provide valuable insights to decision makers to future-proof the electrical systems serving their popula- tions. The platform has expanded beyond powerline risk detection, also simulating flood conditions – either due to structural failures of dams/weirs, increased severity of climatic conditions and other factors.
