Floriculture - Design Regulations For Friday Show Division II - Design Friday Show - "Day at the Art Museum" (Please refer to the NGC Flower Show Design Division Policies and Guidelines on pages 79-81 of the Handbook for Flower Shows 2017 ) 1. The NGC Exhibit Policies are printed in the Handbook for Flower Shows 2017 , Chapter 7, Exhibiting in the Design Division, NGC Policies and Guidelines. 2. PRE-ENTER on Carolina Classic Fair GENERAL entry blank at the back of the catalog. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: TO ENSURE YOUR CHOICE OF CLASS AND AN ACKNOWL - EDGMENT, ENTER BEFORE SEPTEMBER 1. If the Designer is unable to fulfill his or her commitment/assignment, it is the responsibility of the designer to provide a substitute and notify the Design Entries Chairman, Kimberly Cruz (336) 575-1869. 3. An exhibitor may only enter ONE exhibit per class but may enter more than one class. 4. Plant material and non-plant material permitted and not permitted in the Design Division are printed in the Handbook for Flower Shows 2017, Chapter 7. Each design must contain some plant material. Exhibitor need not have grown the plant material used in the design. Rules for design types, advanced design types, table design and table appointments are printed in the Handbook for Flower Shows 2017, Chapter 7. 5. All plant material should be listed on a 3" x 5" card (provided by the Committee) by the botanical (if possible) and common names and placed on the provided Stanchion. 6. Accessories, bases and/or underlays are allowed in ALL classes. 7. There will NOT be accessibility to electricity for a design. Please be aware of this and use appropriate substitutes ( i.e. battery-operated lighting). The Exhibitor is required to conform to the stated description and limitations of the Design Type if named in the Class. The Designer is on his/her honor that the Design being entered has not been previously entered or judged in a NGC Standard Flower Show. 8. The Designer has the freedom to Choose Traditional or Creative Style with any Design listed unless restricted by the Schedule. 9. Please refer to the North Carolina Plant Conservation List and the State and Threatened Plants in the current GCNC Engagement Calendar. The use of artificial flowers, foliage, fruit or vegetables is prohibited in the Design Division. 10. Fresh plant material may be stripped, clipped, trimmed, curled, folded, tied or otherwise manipulated. Coloring or treating of fresh plant material is NEVER permitted. However, dried plant material may be colored and/or treated. 11. Landscapes or scenes are not permitted in the Design Division. 12. Each designer will be given a completed entry card by the Design Entries Committee and is then directed by Placement committee to location. Upon completion of the design, Design Classification checks for conformance to the schedule, allows for necessary adjust - ments by the designer, then initials entry card when approved. 13. Please mark (inconspicuously) your container, base or accessory and DO NOT USE VALUABLE ACCESSORIES. Fair Management, the Flower Show Committees, and the Winston-Salem Judges Council will not be responsible for damage or loss of property, though reasonable care will be taken to protect all materials exhibited. 14. Any non-perishable food products are allowed, but must be sealed if the possibility exists for attracting insects or producing undesirable odor. 15. SET-UP TIME - FRIDAY, September 29, 8:00 am - 10:00 am ONLY! EXHIBITOR MUST LEAVE THE BUILDING AT 10:00 am! No exhibits will be accepted after 10:00 am. JUDGING: 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM - SHOW OPENS TO THE PUBLIC AT 2:00 PM. PICK UP EXHIBITS - TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3, 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm. 16. SET-UP TIME - WEDNESDAY October 4, 8:00 am - 10:00 am ONLY!
