While the world received Him not, Matt. 8:20, some from out of the world opened their hearts for Him to come in, Matt. 10:39, John 4:40-42. (g) The Invarnation of the Word, 14- 18. The Lord from heaven built His house in human nature. He became the true tabarnacle for the glory of God, 2:11, 12:14, Col. 1:19, 2 Cor. 4:4. He had wedded our nature, never to lay it down. He gives the fulness of His- life to His followers. For every grace that there is in Jesus Christ there is a correspending grace for us. He is the nterpreter of the Father. He came to declare the Father, John 14:9, 15:15, Hb. 1:2. tify, Deut. 7:6, Isa. 43:10, Aets 1:5. The Force of Testimony. John was a magnificent witness. He testified with such power that ' ' All Jerusalem and Judea went out to hear h i m ," Matt. 3:5. He stirred up the whole country. Jonah moved all Nineveh, Jonah 3. Philip stirred Samaria, Acts 8. Paul had the credit of turning the world upside down, Acts 17:6^ Faithful Testimony. John testified fierst of himself, that he was nobody. Only a " v o i c e . " Dr. Carey, the mis- sionary, said in his dying moments to his friend, Dr. Duff, " Y o u have been speaking of Dr. Carey; when I am gone speak of Dr. Carey's S a v i o u r ." The title of the Son of God is here ' ' The Wo r d . '' Now a word is the expression of a thought. Jesus is the thought of God. In a word, all of God's thoughts are to be interpreted in the Lord Jesus. He that hath seen Him hath seen the Father, John 14:9,- and He that hath heard Him hath heard the Father, John 8:26-28. (b) The Word and the World, 3. •Tesus is the Creator of the world, Psa. 33:6, Eph. 3:9, Heb. l:2 r The world Was ma,de, it was not self-existent. (c) The Word and Man, 4. The Lord John is the wilderness witness, Isa. 40:3, and the pith of his testimony is, " T h i s is the Son o f ' G o d ," vs. 34. The Function of a Witness. He is to tell what he knows. The Lord said to Saul: " I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a witness, both of the things thou hast seen and of those things in 'which I will appear unto thee, Acts 26:16. The testimony of a witness is limited to experience. We can only witness to such things as we have personally known.
