Adviser - Summer 2016

A s Scrutton Bland gets ready to embark on it’s third year as headline sponsor of Theatre in the Forest, Adviser considers why selecting the right charity or sponsorship partner is so important for everyone involved. From their permanent home in The Avenue Theatre at Gippeswyk Hall, Ipswich, each year Red Rose Chain produce Theatre in the Forest, a large scale annual outdoor theatre event held at Jimmy’s Farm in Wherstead. Often described as a dynamic professional theatre company, Red Rose Chain are entirely independent and self- sustaining, the company creates original productions that confront social concerns, often working with overlooked or hard-to- reach groups to create powerful and insightful stories. For Red Rose Chain, working within

the community and to making a difference to the lives of the people within it, is just one of the reasons that Scrutton Bland continue to support Red Rose Chain. All too often companies base their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) polices on the commercial or PR value that they can get out of the relationship, but in reality, the most value for both parties can be found in the partnering of two organisations who share an affinity. Core to the work that Red Rose Chain do is sustainability, both for their theatre and for the community projects which they are involved with, and that is something which resonates with Scrutton Bland. “Many of our clients have been with us since they first started in business or who came to us looking for help creating investment portfolios and who now require help with retirement

the community isn’t just an add-on thing they do, it’s the inspiration for their work. Whether performing Shakespeare in the Forest or developing new writing, Red Rose Chain are dedicated to finding ways of engaging and involving youth groups, schools and hard to reach audiences who might not normally have the chance to experience the arts. Creating new plays and films through a unique process that involves working with all sorts of people, Red Rose Chain develop candid and authentic stories. Through their collaborative approach with prison inmates, young people in care, single parents and members of drug rehabilitation projects Red Rose Chain aim to reach everyone. Their aim is to touch all corners of the community and enable everyone to experience high quality art without barriers or prejudice. Their commitment to working within
