The 16-year-old Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute student “is an exceptional cadet who exemplifies what it means to be a cadet in the Canadian Cadet Movement,” says corps Commanding Officer, Captain Steve Campbell. “He has distinguished himself with his professional demeanour, impeccable dress and deportment and enthusiasm for coaching and mentoring his younger peers. He has a vast experi- ence in expedition training and is our best candidate for this exchange.” The Army Cadet Exchange program has long been an aspect of summer training that most developing senior cadets have strived for. Cadets like Gazey will have the opportunity to train with cadets from Scotland and learn about their cultural along the way. “It is a great honour being one of the few info@glengarrypioneermuseum.ca. cadets in Ontario to be selected to repre- sent Canada and the Army Cadet program on this fantastic exchange. This is an op- portunity of a lifetime that I not only get to experience, but live it. I am really looking forward to representing my community, province, and country as a great ambas- sador of Canada this summer,” says Gazey The Canadian Cadet Program offers a wide variety of exchange opportunities every year. Each of these advanced courses pro- vides a unique opportunity for cadets who have completed the mandatory program to apply their skills in challenging new environments, as well as develop entirely new ones. Selected individuals represent the best of the Canadian Cadet Program and act as true ambassadors of Canada.

this year will be a series of short work- shops such as tie-dyeing, painting-to- music, magic, kite-making and many others to complement the more formal courses and to entice young campers. For many of the past 14 years, the ef- forts of the camp were directed toward presenting a musical, which became the theme of the camp. This year's theme is "A Bunch of Munsch" and will consist of four dramatic presentations of stories by well-loved Canadian children's story- teller Robert Munsch. Munsch is known for his exuberant storytelling. He makes up his stories in front of audiences and refines them through repeated tellings. He has said, "It takes 200 tellings for a story to get good." His stories are based on the children to whom he first told the story. These stories will be joined by instrumental and choral performances. The camp will come to a joyous ending with the final show Friday, July 19. Like us on Facebook or visit editionap.ca
