Creating Raving Fans

Successful organizations have a common focus: Clients

Wohlsen clients are unique and should be treated as individuals with different needs. Wohlsen’s teams need to be clear on their vision, know their client’s vision and deliver “Plus One” Service.

This training will:

• Identify the 3 secrets for creating Wohlsen Raving Fans. • Name ways you can personally implement the Raving Fans concepts into your daily work. • Learn how to encourage and model the Raving Fans concepts for others on your team.

Introduction to Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence is the “secret ingredient” to success in any industry. It includes specific traits that impact team and individual performance and allows for healthier workplace relationships.

This training will include:

• Overview of Emotional Intelligence and the 4 key competency areas. • Tips on how to improve individual emotional intelligence.

• Strategies for managing emotions under pressure.

• A list of professional behaviors associated with each competency.

Polishing Your Presentation and Public Speaking Skills Public speaking skills are an important trait for any construction professional and at Wohlsen, we pride ourselves on being able to influence our clients, subcontractors and our teams, with effective communication and presentations.

This training will include how to:

• Decrease public speaking anxiety

• Plan powerful presentations that engage your audience • Use your body language and tone to communicate confidence

• Use visual aids effectively

• Prepare virtual and in-person presentations • Use professional delivery techniques

Master Class: Stand Out with Emotional Intelligence

Prerequisite: Introduction to Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence accounts for more of your success at Wohlsen than your IQ and technical skills combined! In this highly interactive session, we will break down the important traits and behaviors associated with EQ and learn how to apply them in your everyday work.

This training will include:

• Interactive exercises to practice EQ skills you can use in your role. • Strategies for positively influencing your team’s EQ. • Step by step guide on how to continuously improve your EQ.

In this Continuous Improvement 1-day event, Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers from across all regions, will come together to learn from internal subject matter experts, and brainstorm ways to solve challenges. They will walk away with clarified expectations about their responsibilities and an enhanced sense of the value their role brings to Wohlsen.

Project Accountants are responsible for managing the financials of our construction projects and executing daily tasks that keep our teams informed about the projects’ overall financial picture.

In this Continuous Improvement 1-day event, accountants will connect the responsibilities of their role to the success of a project, understand the importance of the relationship between the accountant and the project team, and gain knowledge into what happens in the field throughout the duration of a project.

In this Continuous Improvement 1-day event, field engineers, assistant superintendents and superintendents, from all regions, will gather to review core processes and share solutions to challenges they face in the field. They will learn from our internal subject matter experts on how to make better use of systems and processes to ensure success on every project.

Intern Training Program

June – August 2025

Wohlsen’s intern program hires seniors in college pursuing a construction- related degree and assigns them to our project teams and departments for the summer.

We provide opportunities for our interns to learn the construction management process and grow their skills and knowledge, beyond the classroom. We train them on topics that include Professionalism in Construction, Public Speaking Skills, Emotional Intelligence, Conflict Resolution, OSHA 10 and Team Building with AVA. Each intern is assigned a Wohlsen mentor to guide and support them and enhance their overall experience with us. Page 25

AVA Team Building

The Activity Vector Analysis (AVA), Wohlsen’s personality profile, predicts natural behavioral tendencies on the job and is used during the interview process, for 1-1 coaching and for team building sessions. It measures 4 key areas of behavior:

Assertiveness

Sociability

Calmness

Conformity

Since 2019, Wohlsen has hosted over 50 team building sessions to help teams better understand each other’s strengths and potential challenges on the job and learn ways to “flex” to better meet the needs of the team and the client.

*These sessions can be requested by a Department Leader or Project Executive and can be scheduled throughout the year.
