Wellesley Public Schools: Fiscal Year 2026 Budget

Employees who are hired at step 1 through 15 advance one (1) step for each completed year of employment until they reach step 16, our top step. While employees are progressing through these steps, there is a greater impact on the budget. A Unit A member advancing a step in fiscal year 2026 will earn an additional 7.17% while an employee on top step with earn an additional 3.00% since all steps have been equalized at 4.17% across the salary table. The steps have a significant fiscal impact on the district.

Wellesley has approximately 57.08% of the faculty positions at the top step in their salary lane. School committee policy JG: Student Enrollment and School Assignment provides class size guidelines at the elementary and secondary levels that represent the target range of students enrolled in individual classrooms. The table below provides a historical view of our class sizes compared to the policy guidelines.
