Wellesley Public Schools met or exceeded MCAS achievement targets in nearly all areas, however, there are persistent gaps in performance of student groups. Chronic absenteeism remains an area of concern, particularly for Wellesley High School accountability, and student groups of Wellesley Public Schools students. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): Wellesley students may take both the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) as well as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The scores represented here include mathematics and evidence-based reading and writing.

The two parts of the SAT (Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math) are each scored on a scale of 200-800, resulting in a total score ranging from 400-1600. Historically, Wellesley students’ scores are significantly higher than the national average. American College Test (ACT): The ACT (American College Test) is an assessment tool gauging the mastery of college readiness standards through four sub-tests: English, mathematics, reading and science.

The ACT test is graded on a scale of 1-36 with the current national average ACT score is 19.5.
Advanced Placement (AP) Test: Wellesley offers a strong Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum to our students. Over the course of the four years at Wellesley High School, most students will take at least one AP course. In SY’22-23, 418, or 30.60%, of Wellesley High School students took AP exams for a total of 942 exams. Wellesley offers 16 AP courses. With a rating system of 5 (extremely qualified) to 1 (no recommendation), Wellesley students continue to excel in the exams with 91% of students scoring a three or higher. Of the 942 AP tests administered last school year, the following awards of distinction were presented: • AP Scholar Award (score of 3 or higher on 3 or more exams): 60 Students • AP Scholar with Honor Award (average grade of 3.25 on all AP exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on five or more AP exams): 39 Students
