Wellesley Public Schools: Fiscal Year 2026 Budget
Key Takeaways: In FY’24, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts funded universal meals for all students in the state on a permanent basis. As with all state-funded programs, there is a risk of this commitment changing when state revenues cause cuts to programming. Whitsons Culinary Group is under contract with the district as our food service management company through June 2025. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has created a Request for Proposal (RFP) template all districts must use in their bid process. We anticipate going out to bid this winter and awarding a contract next spring to the bidder who is responsive and responsible and who meets our quality requirements and offers the district the greatest return of revenue. All-Funds Summary (Level 1): The Wellesley Public Schools budget is complex. Revenue sources vary year-to-year, and the educational needs of students vary child to child. The district must be nimble in our approach to meeting the ever- changing educational needs. A thorough understanding of all funding sources; careful tracking of trend data; and accurate enrollment and salary projections help minimize variations in our ability to meet the needs of all children. The all-funds summary is a roll-up of all previous tables based on the revenue and expenditure assumptions outlined above.
