OMF
Friends, The Aggen, Bigalk, and Seinola families would like to wish you a warm welcome to the 8th Annual Oak Meadow Farms Production Sale. We are once again excited to have produced a set of bulls that are backed by the hard-working females that make up our respective programs. As breeders we have been diligent in our genetic selection and are dedicated to producing healthy, high- quality Simmental and SimAngus™ beef cattle. We take our role as your seedstock provider very seriously and will continue to make genetic investments annually to improve the product we offer. Now more than ever quality genetics and customer service are a must. One example is our popular Oak Meadow Farms influence customer appreciation feeder calf sale held every November. We appreciate and value the relationship we have with Joe Nelson and the industry leading commission firms that he and his family operate in Lanesboro, MN and Decorah, IA. The cattle in this offering excel in their physical traits and have strong EPDs and Indexes with the common goal of customer success. We welcome you to join us on February 8, 2026, at 1 PM for our 8th Annual Sale that will be held in Cresco, Iowa at the Howard County Ag Education Center. The sale will be a video auction in the comfort of the state-of-the art climate-controlled building. We will have videos of the entire offering and welcome you to stop by the farm prior to the sale. The sale cattle will be on display the day before the sale and sale day for your inspection as well. Please feel free to call or text us to discuss the offering, thank you for your interest!
Sincerely, Matt Aggen

Welcome,
Enthusiasm and optimism are at an all-time high in the beef industry, as we are all aware. As we embark on a new calendar year, we are well into the third year of record prices for all classes of cattle. In addition to weekly record highs on the feeder cattle side, the salvage market for open cows and herd bulls is substantial enough that an operator can justify selling their “old bull” and turn around and invest in the next generation of genetics for little difference, if they are ok with the lower end. However, the upper end of any set of bulls tends to be the value relative to quality, and that extra investment can yield substantial returns in a market such as today’s. In some cases, that herd bull you potentially invest in this sale season can be the deciding factor in topping the market by $300 per head or being $300 behind someone else. Competition drives excellence in everything we do in a capitalistic, free trade society, so why not choose to play at a higher level than the status quo? Matt Aggen, along with his father, Dr. Lynn Aggen, and oldest son, Hunter, are dedicated beef cattlemen. They are devoted to the full-circle approach to the business, not just their personal marketing endeavors, to improve the way they live. Their belief has always been that if the customer is successful, the brand and namesake will follow the same path. The approach to breeding cattle has always started with animals, ensuring they are on a quality foundation with depth of heel and more than acceptable skeletal quality. Those cattle then have to perform and adapt to the resources and climate available, followed by fertility, then udder quality. If any of these selection pressures are out of synch, then that animal or animals won’t be part of the plan moving forward. The injection of data comes at mating time. For years, the operation concentrated on pounds and size without sacrificing the maternal foundation that took decades to close in on perfection. With changing times and the competitive advantages of the CAB brand within the industry, the pressure shifted to improving the end product in terms of quality grade. Each shift or additional selection criterion was implemented subtly with the long-game approach in mind. This philosophy is why so many sires and dams produced under the OMF umbrella experience unmatched longevity in the breed, and why the number of interested parties and sale attendees is increasing each year. Dr. Kory Bigalk and Jared Seinola were both mentored by the Aggen family and are considered family. The two gentlemen approach the data in much the same way they were influenced. Diamond K Simmentals is very passionate about the numbers and data, and as time goes on, each generation raised by the Bigalk family improves phenotypically as well. The Five Star Ranch approach is very similar, and Jared is an excellent student of phenotype, with the skill set to present his product alongside the very best of them. When all three come together to host this annual event, the energy is strong, the vibe is pumping, and the collection of stock is of the highest quality, presented in the most professional way for a set of production bulls and females in the SimGenetic business. Times like these are not to be taken for granted. In times like these, the risk/reward relationship is never greater. In times like these, the porch is not the right place to be. If you are a serious cattleman or woman, improving your profit margin needs to be on your list of must-dos. If you are an existing customer of either of these three programs, you need to attend this year’s event. If you are new to the circle and want to invest in something you can sink your teeth into to improve your operation, then punch the sale location into your phone. We welcome your attendance and interest. We also encourage customers, old and new, to schedule on-farm visits with each genetic partner in this sale. We know they will be more than happy to show you through their collection of stock in their native environment. If time does not allow, trust that you can reach out to any of the families involved or the Innovation AgMarketing team for sight-unseen purchasing guidance or any additional information. All involved with the event look forward to seeing you and building a long-term relationship with your family and operation.
Enjoy the cattle,
Graham Blagg

All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk and owners or sale personnel assume no liability for accidents. BOARDING Bulls will be wintered at no additional charge until April 1, 2026. Bulls will have passed a thorough breeding soundness exam prior to pick up/delivery. Since each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold, we strongly recommend a mortality insurance policy be taken out on any animal that is left to be wintered. HERD HEALTH All animals selling are tested negative for BVD-PI. Bred females are vaccinated with scour guard. All 3 herds have an extensive Johnes testing program, and have complete vaccination programs supervised by Dr. Lynn Aggen. In the event any of the bred heifers appear to show immediate signs of calving, they will be left at the farm in Harmony, Minnesota. Many are due on or around sale day. BULL GUARANTEE Unless otherwise noted, all the breeding age bulls will have passed a breeding soundness exam prior to pick up/delivery. In addition to the standard Terms and Conditions of the American Simmental Association, we will provide the first breeding season (the 90-day period immediately following turn out) guarantee on all yearling and older bulls. This guarantee is not an insurance or mortality policy, but a guarantee on functional fertility. It is not a substitute or replacement for poor management. Buyer assumes all risks for injury due to running bulls together or management decisions outside genetic control. For the guarantee to apply, we ask that you contact us as soon as a condition is observed and before the animal is sold. We will work with you to determine whether the animal is returned or sold for slaughter. We will attempt to provide a suitable replacement. If one cannot be provided of equal or greater value, we will issue a sale credit to be used in a future sale for the full purchase price less the salvage value of the animal.

VOLUME DISCOUNT A 5% discount will be given on the purchase of 5 or more bulls.
A GUIDE TO EXPECTED PROGENY DIFFERENCES Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs): EPDs are the most accurate and effective tool available for comparing genetic levels. In using EPDs, the difference between two sires’ EPDs represents the unit difference expected in the performance of their progeny. For example, if sires A and B have EPDs of +10 and –5, a 15-unit difference would be expected in their progeny (moving from -5 to +10 yields 15 units). Key to using EPDs is knowing what units they are expressed in. For example, if the above case referred to weaning weight EPDs, A would be expected to sire 15-pounds more weaning weight than B. If calving ease were the trait, A would be expected to sire 15-percent more unassisted births in first-calf heifers; in other words, if B sired 30 assists in a group of 100 heifers, we’d expect A to require 15 assists. A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s EPDs rank him relative to other bulls in the breed. For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes visit www.simmental.org. Listed below are the units ASA EPDs are expressed in: • Calving Ease (CE): Percent of unassisted births when used on heifers. • Birth Weight (BW): Pounds of birth weight. Calving Ease (CE): Percent of unassisted births when used on heifers.
• Weaning Weight (WW): Pounds of weaning weight. • Yearling Weight (YW): Pounds of yearling weight. • Maternal Calving Ease (MCE): Percent of unassisted births in first-calving daughters. • Milk (MLK): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk. • Maternal Weaning Weight (MWW): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth. • Stayability (STAY): Percent of daughters remaining in the cowherd at 6 years of age. • Carcass Weight (CW): Pounds of carcass weight.
• Yield Grade (YG): Yield grade score. • Marbling (MRB): Marbling score. • Back Fat (BF): Inches of backfat. • Ribeye Area (REA): Square inches of ribeye.
• All-Purpose Index (API): Dollars per cow exposed under an all-purpose-sire scenario. (See below for more details.) • Terminal Index (TI): Dollars per cow exposed under a terminal-sire scenario. (See below for more details.)
$ Indexes: Though EPDs allow for the comparison of genetic levels for many economically important traits, they only provide a piece of the economic puzzle. That’s where $ indexes come in. Through well- conceived, rigorous mathematical computation, $ indexes blend EPDs and economics to estimate an animal’s overall impact on your bottom line. The same technology that led to the dramatic progress in swine, poultry and dairy genetics over the last several decades was used to develop the following $ indexes: All-Purpose Index (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield. Terminal Index (TI): Evaluates sire for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield. Using API and TI: First, determine which index to use; if you’re keeping replacements use API, if not, TI. Then, just as with EPDs, zero in on the unit difference between bulls. (As described above, index units are in dollars per cow exposed.) The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. Or, put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another. For example, when buying an all-purpose-type sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring +100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a +50 bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff. x 30 hd. x 4 yr. = $6,000). A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s index value ranks him relative to other bulls in the breed. For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes visit www.simmental.org.

From Our Customers
“We have been purchasing bulls from Oak Meadow Farms for most of the last decade. The performance of our calves and market animals has improved dramatically during this time. Their customer service is excellent, and we value their advice in livestock production and animal health. They are an asset to the seedstock industry, and they are really nice people.” - Loren Mathison - Preston, Minnesota “We have purchased bulls over the past several years and the results of that standout in the pasture! The females we have invested in are not only replacements, but are cattle that we have used to build out cow herd. The team at Oak Meadow Farms is always willing to lend a helping hand. They know what bulls will fit our program and will help us achieve our production goals!” - Nate & Lucas Huesinkveld - Decorah, Iowa “I have purchased a bull, bred, and a flush in past sales; each time thinking I got the buy of the sale. I’ve retained daughters for my herd out of each investment. The bull has bred spring and fall cows each year since he arrived. Perfect toes, second to none disposition, and the presence to win a show. These cattle have made me money, but the relationships and networking opportunities that I’ve gained by doing business with these firms is the most important to me.” - Ethan Wedeking, Plain fi eld, Iowa

OMF NORTHSTAR N63
• OMF Northstar N63 may be the brother of choice in this high-quality initiating duo for some as his build is burly, dense, and very expressive. • We do appreciate the flat smooth joint work relative to the amount of bone this stud lugs around. He is very agile and flexible on the go, and proud in the carriage of his initial third. • N63 comes with some numeric advantages in comparison to his Lot 1 brother as he ranks in the top 15% for Marb and API, the top 20% for Stay and REA, the top 25% TI, the top 30% for CE, DMI, and Doc. • We do not think there is a right or wrong answer when selecting your next herd sire from this pair. OMF NELSON N11
• One that represents the most referenced sire group of the 2025 calving season. OMF Ludacris L17 was selected by Nelson Family Farms at the 2024 Oak Meadow Production Sale. The calf reports were encouraging, and the weaning reports were documented with pleasure. • N11 is one of the heaviest bulls in the offering. He crossed the scales at weaning, adjusted to 864 pounds to ratio 110, and allowed him to rank in the top 5 among his contemporaries. • His dam is a very productive and perfectly uddered daughter of OMF Effort E74. • “Nelson” ranks in the top 10% for WW, YW, and MWW, and the top 20% for TI, ADG, Milk, and Stay. One will experience premiums at weaning or at harvest, but the true winners could be his daughters when retained back in the program.
