Public Speaking and the Reading of the Scriptures Instruction in this cour se will cover everything that is fundamental a nd essenti al in the use of the vo ice in publi c exp ress ion in preaching a nd teaching, and the public read ing of the l3ib le. Very specific in st ruction will be g iven in the care a nd de,·e lopment of the voice, in enu nciation and pronuncia tion a nd a lso in diction and style, both in writing and speak ing . The stud ent s wi ll be required to make public addresses befo re the class, to be crit icized by the class and by the instru c tors. The stud ents w; ll a lso be requi red to speak in public, in open air meet ings, shop meet ings a nd chu rches, and their work will be rev iewed and criticized . They will be required to read the B ible and will be shown their defects and how the,· can be co rrected. It is espec iall y a imed to teach the stude t; ts to think on their feet and to be ready on all occasions to exp ress the trut h in the most forc ible and tell ing way. XIX. New Testament Greek vVhile some men on acco unt of age- a nd lack of previous ed ucab on ent er the mini st ry without knowing New Testament Greek,-and often do exce ll ent work, it is well fo r young men who can do so to take up that subj ect. A conscientious stu dent, under prope r instructi on, can, in three yea rs, lay the foundat ion of a working knowledge of the language in which the New Testament wa s written. O nl y those stud ents taking the Three Year Course will he pe rmi tted to take thi s subj ect. XX. The Study of English E ,·e ry g rad uate from the l3ible In stitute wi ll be required to . haYe a thorough, practical knowledge of the E ng lish lang uage.
