tute should have a knowledge of E ngli sh g rammar, but there are many men and women who can be of g reat use in teaching and preaching the 'Nord , whose knowledge of Engli sh is very elementary and inaccurate. , Ve do not exclude such from the advantages of the Bibl e Institute, but they are not awarded the diploma, unl ess they shall have secured a working knowl edge of modern E nglish. The instruction in E ngli sh giYen in the Inst itute is of a most pract ical character. A student enter ing the Institute without having compl eted the H igh School studies may be req uired by the facu lty to lengthen hi s stay to three yea rs in order to acquire E ngli sh. XXI. Music T he prime object of the music inst ruction is to equi p the student thoroughly fo r every demand made upon t he Chri stian worker in play ing, si nging, conducting, writing and teaching Gospel mu sic. It prepares for every branch of regular church mu sic activity, and the special work of mu sic in evangeli sm. Courses are offered in Voice, P iano, O rgan, V iolin , Theory and Notati on, Sight Singing, Conduct ing, Harmony and Com position, Normal Ttaining, Hymnology, Advanced Choru s and Ea r Train ing. In all instruct ion a standard of techni que is mainta ined equa l to that of th -= best conservato ri es, and provi ion is mack for work in Vo ice, Piano, Organ, Counterpoi nt and Composi tion more advanced than that outlined in the regular two yea rs' course and mentioned in the preced ing paragraph. T he instruction in voice, piano, organ and violin is indi vidual, and a cha rge of $ 1.00 for hal f- hou r lessons is made for voice, piano and violin, and $3 .00 fur pipe organ to enrolled students, and t heir wives, or hu sbands, or chilc!i-en, and to mis- siona ries on furlough. To persons not enroll ed as student s the rates for private instruction are: voice, piano and violin , $2 .00; pipe organ , $5. 00. A charge of $ 1.00 a mont h is made for daily use of practice pianos fo r piano and voice pupils. T he rate fo r pipe organ lessons includes free da il y orga n practice.
