The Euodia Club Our state laws prohibit the teaching of the Bible in the public sc hools, but there is no law forbidding the undermining of the faith of the stud ent s in God's '\\'ore!, and the theory of evoluti on and ot her teachings contrary to the Bible are freely taught. Because of these cond;tion s. and also because of the fa ct that our young people are led astray so early in these clays , in 1910 the fir st Bibl e class among High School girls was formed by- l\Irs . Anna L. Horton in co11ncction with the old Los Angeles High School. A group of girls was ga th ered together one afternoon each week fo r B ible study. Q uickl y fo ll owing this other cla sses were fo rmed. until we now have twentv of these weekly Bible classes in conn ect ion with the va ri ous I1~ter mediat e and High Schools of the city and out lying t own s. Some of th e Hi gh School boys are now clamoring for B ibl e teaching. and three classes arc composed of splendid Chri st ian boys . eage r for a better knowledge of the \Vo rel of God. The organi za ti on of these classes as a whole is known as "The Euodia Club .. , The meaning of the word Euodia is "fragrance ," the motto being "Be frag rant fo r Chri st." In the past few years we haYe stud iecl the Books o f Genes is, J ohn and Acts , tak;ng a year to each. O ne yea r was devoted to the g reat fundamenta l truths of th e Bible, and one yea r to clis pensa ti onal Truth s. A number of our g irl s are taki ng , or have tak en, the Bible In stitute course. and mam· are in act i1·e se rvice for the Lord. At least one gir l is on the ,fo rei gn fi eld , and others are planning to go. Our three-fold aim: T o teach the \i\ ' ord; to save un saved girl s; to lead saved g irls into liYes of service. The Jewish Work Remembering the Scriptural injuncti on- "to the Jew first ,' ' we maintain among these " lost sheep of the house of I srael" div inely gifted workers whose labors have been g reatly blessed, and no c01werts afford us morf joy than those from among the peopl e " of whom. as concerning the flesh, Chri st ca:11e."
