BIBLE INSTITUTE OF LOS ANGELES
Suggestions for Preparatory Work
Hereafter applicants for admi ssion to the Bible Institute will be examined soon after their arrival as to t heir ability to write and speak the English language correctly, and as to their ability to spell and pronounce words correctly and to express themselves grammat ically and attractively. As we have found that many graduates of H igh Schools and Colleges cannot spell correctly nor write letters attractively, College graduates and High School graduates will be examined as to their ability in these directions . All applicants for admission into the Institute whose knowledge of Engli sh, Spell ing, Pronunciation, Gram mar, Composition and Penmanship is found defective will be required to attend classes giving preparatory work. These classes will not be conducted by the slow, old-fashioned and in effective methods frequently st ill used in our public and private schools. Applicants will a lso be examined in Bible Geography, the Structure of t he Bible, the Names and Titles of the Bible and their significance, the divisions and order of the books and the Canon of Scripture; and if they are unable to pass a sat isfac tory examination on these matters they will be required to at tend preparatory classes a long these li nes. In cases where too much prepar'atory work has to be taken to permit the student to carry the regular two year course and complete it in two years, it will be necessary to take the two yea r course in t!1ree years, in which case the students, on com pleting the course, will be given not the diploma for the Three Year Course for Pastors, but only the ordi nary two year diploma.
