Emission Control: Many crematories have been investing in emissions control technologies to minimize air pollutants released during the cremation process. These technologies may include filtration systems, scrubbers, and other equipment designed to capture particulate matter, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other emissions. Fireless Cremation is also a water based alternative to traditional cremation. Compliance with Regulations : Crematories are subject to various environmental regulations governing air quality, emissions, and waste management. Organizations like CANA, NFDA, and ICCFA often provide guidance and resources to help crematories comply with these regulations and adopt best practices for environmental stewardship. Education and Training: Industry associations like CANA, NFDA, and ICCFA play a role in educating crematory operators and funeral professionals about the importance of air quality control and the latest advancements in emissions reduction technologies. Training programs, seminars, and conferences may cover topics related to environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance. Research and Development: Ongoing research and development efforts within the cremation industry focus on finding innovative solutions to improve air quality control, reduce emissions, and enhance overall environmental performance. New Product solutions such as the FC-600 and aqua based cremation are breaking into the market at a rapid speed.
American Crematory adheres to some of the strictest air quality regulation in the industry from South Coast AQMD. The improvement of the public participation process in BACT determinations now involves technical review and feedback from a specialized Scientific Review Committee (SRC) at regular intervals before updates are made to the South Coast AQMD BACT Guidelines. Additionally, a 30-day notice period has been implemented for the SRC and interested parties to review and provide comments on BACT determinations by South Coast AQMD that impose more stringent requirements than previous ones. The following notices highlight new BACT determinations that exceed prior BACT requirements by South Coast AQMD. Best Available Control Technology (BACT)
