VOI CE A ttenti on is given to the individual needs of each student -with emphasis upon breath control, open throat , placement, the even scale, enunciation, articulation, diction , phrasing and interpretat ion. Standard exe rcises of Root, Vacci, Sieber, Con­ cone, Ma rchesi, Behnke and others are used, also a wide var iety of songs, with empha sis always upon the s tudy and interpretat ion of Gospel music. 3. PIANO The course in piano me ets the demands of a ll classes of student s from the beginner to the student of advanced stand­ ing. Stress is laid upon the development of technique and its application to the playing of hymns and Gospel songs in church and evangelistic meetings. Standard techni cal exerci ses by Clementi , Kuhlau, Burgmuller, Heller, Rogers and Cramer, and the works of Haydn, Moza rt and Beethoven, Chopin , Schumann , Mendelssohn, Grieg, McDowell , Rachmaninoff, Debussy, Sinding and others, a re adapted to the indi vidual needs of> the student. 4. ORGAN Applicant s for organ study mu st have a ce rtain amount of piano preparation. Special training is gi ven in manua l touch, pedal technique, registration , ch urch playing and solo and choir accompan iment. Standard works a re used, such as Pedal Studies by Whiting, Schneider and Buck, the R ink Organ School and the Bach L itt le Preludes and Fugues, Composi­ tion s by F lagler, Gounod, Merkel, Lemaigre, Batiste, etc. More advanced students take up the study of organ son­ atas , concertos and other compositions by Mendelssohn, Guil­ mant, Rheinberger, Widor and others. 5. H ARMONY The course in Harmony and Compos iti on gives the student a thorough a nd practical knowledge of chords and the ir rela­ ti on, vo ice leading, practi ce in harmonizat ion of giYen melod ies, and leads to original work and t he writing of Gospel songs a nd other compos iti ons. Thi s work covers four te rms.
