BIBLE INSTITUTE OF LOS ANGELES
Suggestions for Preparatory Work
Hereafter applicants for admission to the Bible Institute will be examined soon after their arrival as to their ability to wri te and speak the English language co r rectly, and as to their ab ili ty to spell and pronounce words correctly and to express themseh·es grammatically and attractively. As we have found that many graduates of High Schools and Colleges cannot spell correctly nor write letters attractively, Coll ege graduates and High School grad uates will be examined as to their ability in these directions. All applicants for admission into the Institute whose knowledge of Engl ish, Spelling, Pronunciation, Gram mar, Compos iti on and Penmanship is fou nd defective will be required to attend classes giving preparatory work. These classes will not be conducted by the slow, old-fashioned and in effective methods frequently sti ll used in our public and private schools. Applicants will a lso be examined in Bible Geography, the Structure of the Bible, the Names and Titles of the Bible and their significance, the div is ions and order of the books and the Canon of Scriptu re; and if they are unable to pass a satisfac tory examinat ion on these matters they will be required to at tend preparatory classes along these lines. In cases where too much preparatory work has to be taken to permit the student to carry the regular two year course and complete it in two years, it will be necessary to take the two yea r course in three years, in which case the students, on com pleting the course, wi ll be given not the diploma for the Three Year Course for Pastors, but only the ord inary two year diploma.
