Three Year Course for Those Intendin!3 To Be Pastors and Those Who Are Already In Pastoral Work But Realize the Need of Fuller Equipment How the Course for Pastors Came To Be A la rge number of the graduates of the Bible In st itute of Los Angeles have been called into the regular mi ni stry and to be pastors in Bapt ist , Me thod ist, Presbyterian, Congregat ional and other churches. Some of these denominat ions require a three year course in a theological seminary as one of the con­ c1 itions of ordination, and until September, 1921 , the Bible Institute of Los Angeles offered onl y a two year course of study, though those two yea rs were longer t han the school year ordinaril y g iven in theological semina ri es, being years of nine months each, eighteen month s in all. Notwithstand ing thi s, many of the graduates of thi s I nst itute have passed ve ry cred it­ able exam inations before ordaining Coun cil s and Presbyteries and other ordaining bod ies, and after the ir ord ination have do11.e acceptable and effective work in the mini stry. But the Dean and di ffe rent members of the Faculty of the Bible Inst i­ tute, who have themselves been in pastoral work and know the demands of the work, have fe lt that a two year course did not give adequate preparation for the mini st ry, so it was determ; ned la st yea r to offe r a larger and more adequate cour se to those contemplating taking up regul ar pastor's work. T he results of an added year' s work have been very gratify ing in the number t hat took the course and in the progress t hat they have made in the course, and it has been determi ned to enla rge and st rengthen thi s course in many ways, and to increase the faculty by the addition of men peculiarly we ll fitted by education and exper­ ience fo r thi s part icular work. Hitherto some of our students, on the advice of the Faculty, have gone to va rious theological seminaries to get the add it ional work that seemed desirable.
