meeting, young peoples' society, open air or evangelistic meetings. Free use is made of the blackboard in outline and struc ture work. Students are required to prepare and hand in for correction outlines of Sermons and Bible Readings. Opportun ity is given to students to preach in the class room, they being guided therein by the corrections and suggestions of the teacher and the class . Special attention is given to the correction of faults in delivery, voice and manneri sms. Instruction is given in the proper and reverent reading of the Scriptures and hymns. Cycle of Study The course in Homiletics continues through four terms of the school year. Term I.-Introductory. The text, theme, introduction, body, and conclusion of a sermon . The gathering and arrange ment of sermon material. Blackboard practice in sermon out lines. Term II.-Bible Readings. Topical Sermons. Exposi tory Sermons. Great Chapters as Texts. Practice in Struc ture Work. Term III.-Outline and skeleton work by students in the various forms of Sermons studied in Terms I and II. Term IV.-Students Preaching, special attention being paid to the correction of defects in delivery, voice and man neri sms, also to the proper reading of the Scriptures and hymns. X. Pastoral Theology Lectures and familiar talks on the work of the Pastor: the office; the call; the privileges and perils; his public and private life; his relation to the church as a whole and to its various organizations; to the press; to the people, and to philanthropic work.
