Ve ry specific instructi on will be given in the care and development of the voice, in enunciation and p ronunci a tion and also in diction and style, both in writing and speak ing. The student will be required to make publi c add resses before the class, to be criti cised by the class and by the instruc tors. T hey will be required to read the Bible and wi ll be shown thei r defect s and how they can be corrected . It is es peci ally aimed to teach the students to think on their feet and to be ready on a ll occasions to express the truth in the mos t forc ible and tell ing way. XX. Bible Lands and Manners and Customs T he obj ect of thi s course is to enable stu dents to unde r stand the Bible in the light of the lands and customs in which the Bible was written. XXI. Greek and Hebrew There is no a ttempt in the Bible Institute to teach Greek and Hebrew to those who have little or no knowledge of these languages, as such a smattering of Greek and Hebrew as could be given in a two years' course is worse than useless. It is fa r better fo r one who would wisely interpret and preach the Gos pel to know no Greek and Hebrew at all than merely to have an elementa ry and superfi cia l knowledge of these languages. But in a ll the study of th e Bibl e, reference is made to the He brew Old Testament , and Greek New Testament,by those who have a thorough knowledge of the Heb rew and Greek Scrip tures, and compa ri son is made of the three versions in com mon use, the Authori zed Version , the Engli sh Rev ised Ver sion , and the Ameri can Standa rd Ve rsion. T hi s compa ri son is ca r ried on in t he li ght of the best manu scri pts in the original languages. XXII. The Study of English Every g raduate from the Bible Institute will be requi red to have a thorough, p rac ti cal knowledge of the Engli sh lang uage.
