Katus Ranch - Angus Seedstock Bull Sale [3/8/26]

Dear neighbors, friends and fellow cattlemen, It is with great pleasure that our crew welcomes you to the 3rd annual Katus Ranch Angus Seedstock production sale. It has been one heck of a year. Plentiful rains and more green grass than you have ever seen. With all that, the cattle had it pretty good out on pasture for the summer. I’ve heard just about from everyone that calf weights were up and as everyone knows prices were at record highs. Let’s take a moment and soak it all in because you as cattle producers deserve it more than ever with all the hard work put in over the years. With the cow numbers at record lows there is no better time than now for those of you that are fully stocked. This early winter provided us with many challenges. From really wet muddy conditions to winter rain. This made it quite challenging to keep bulls clean. We bedded every day and still couldn’t seem to keep up with it. 50 degrees one day and 10 the next! The bulls carry a little tag but like one guy said, it will all be gone in May. Our philosophy has been you have to start with the cow and the bulls will follow. That is the reason for our extensive embryo program. We have identified several proven cows of donor quality and mated them to proven bulls. With that we can provide you the customer with top-of-the-line genetics and replicate that into many full siblings that sire a consistent product. We are always on the lookout for the next generation of donor cow to introduce into our herd and found one in the Musgrave Angus herd. Musgrave Forever Lady 2121 brings forth tremendous fleshing ability and a great udder. Made wide and deep she will play a major part for years to come. Check out her Lot 1 bull calf! She joins our exciting donor battery ready to take us to the next level. We treat our registered herd just like our commercial herd. They have to forage long into the fall on cornstalks and maintain condition. This makes for a real-world cowherd that will survive the test of time. All the bulls are fed a balanced ration prepared by Tyler Melroe ensuring that they can express their genetic potential without sacrificing foot quality. Full vaccination and mineral program. They will be semen tested before delivery start- ing in April. As I write, the next generation of Katus calves are starting to hit the ground and boy are there some exciting matings coming. Thank you for all your support on this exciting journey we are on, and we look forward to seeing you on March 8th. Sincerely, Katus Ranch
