Persona Holiday 2017

Sephora Launched Nationwide Beauty Class for People affected by Cancer Sephora launched its “Brave Beauty in the Face of Cancer” class nationwide, a free, 90-minute workshop for individuals undergoing cancer treatments. It is part of the retailer’s Classes for Confidence program, which provides complimentary beauty classes geared toward teaching basic makeup tips to build confidence in people who are in the midst of major life transitions. On one level, the Brave Beauty in the Face of Cancer class provides a forum for people to pick up tips on dealing with hair loss and skin sensitivities. The class allows customers to “discover techniques and products that address the visible effects of cancer treatments” with tailored skincare tips and a step-by-step tutorial. But, more importantly, it’s also a safe space that allows patients to come together and connect in an empowering environment. “These classes initiate powerful and positive connections for those dealing with cancer, away from the hospital environment,” says Corrie Conrad, Sephora’s Senior Director of Social Impact and Sustainability. Since launching in March 2017, Sephora has run more than 350 Brave Beauty in the Face of Cancer Classes for Confidence serving more than 2,600 women, in its US stores. Conrad says that for the prestige beauty retailer, this new initiative has been a labor of love. “In January 2015, we [at Sephora] asked ourselves, ‘Where can our strengths make a FOCUS ON SEPHORA

difference in our communities? What are we uniquely positioned to do?’ We had this amazing infrastructure that doesn’t just offer makeovers, but empowers our clients – and when we realized that for our colleagues in-store, it was all about making a connection, I thought, ‘How can we use our classes to intentionally create one of those moments that are meaningful to our employees?’ Sephora also offers a Sephora Collection Sephora Stands FEARLESS Rouge Cream Lipstick that supports the program. The limited-edition hydrating lipstick doesn’t only create full lips with intense color but also gives back. For every lipstick sold, Sephora gives $10 to Sephora Stands – a program dedicated to empowering women and positively impacting communities.
