• One band at ~283 bp: Homozygous non-blue (bb) • One band at ~637 bp: Homozygous blue (BB) • Two bands (~283 bp and ~637 bp): Heterozygous (Bb) BREEDING RECOMMENDATIONS 4. IDENTIFY which birds are homozygous blue (BB). 5. DESIGN breeding pairs to maximize homozygous blue offspring: • Best strategy: BB × BB crosses (100% BB offspring) • Alternative: Bb × BB crosses (50% BB offspring) 6. CALCULATE expected offspring ratios for your recommended crosses. 7. JUSTIFY your breeding recommendations in your lab notebook.
