PROGRAMS Registry NEED TO CATCH UP? IT’S EASY WITH USSA’S AMNESTY PROGRAM!
AMNESTY PROGRAM Q&A Bandon, Oregon SOUTH BECKMAN SUFFOLKS, BRUCE & ARLENE MURPHY WHY DID YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SUFFOLK AMNESTY PROGRAM? Our flock went to "Rindy Farms" in Montana for one season and all lambs went to the breeder and caretaker of our flock. "Thank You Randy Reinlasoder". WHAT WAS THE GENETIC BACKGROUND OF YOUR FLOCK? Clear back to Wilfong Suffolks to start with brood ewes, and in no particular order, we purchased rams from Tom Burke, Chuck Ream (multiple), Steve Paasch (multiple), Jeremy Geske (multiple), and Keith Pumphrey. WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO ENROLL? HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO GET ALL THE INFORMATION TOGETHER TO SUBMIT? I called USSA Executive Secretary Amanda Everts and talked about what steps I needed to take to catch up on registrations. It took very little time. Received the amnesty paperwork by email, filled out and was approved. HOW HAS GETTING YOUR REGISTRATIONS CURRENT HELPED TO EXPAND YOUR MARKETING OPTIONS? It always helps to have current registrations so that you can offer a hassle free paperwork experience.
The Suffolk Amnesty Program was established to provide a means for United Suffolk Sheep Association or United Junior Suffolk Sheep Association members to catchup on registry work. AMNESTY PROGRAM

If a GAP flock is enrolling in the Amnesty program, GAP application and acceptance is also required.
WHERE DO YOU PRIMARILY MARKET YOUR SUFFOLKS? Oregon, Washington, California, Utah and Nevada.
HOW HAS USSA'S AMNESTY PROGRAM BENEFITTED YOUR OPERATION? This last Summer, after updating all paperwork on our sheep, I was able to go to the Oregon State Fair and show our Suffolks. After the show, I was asked to entertain the idea of selling one of our show string ewe lambs. I asked which ewe lamb the buyer was interested in and they told us. Lloyd McCabe wanted one of our Winter Class ewe lambs. They are a set of twins, so I offered choice of the lambs that are from our line we call "The Ethel Line" which goes clear back to Wendy Wilfong’s ewe that we purchased many years earlier. As of the '26 lambing season, we are up to "Ethel 50", each ewe lambs out of our "Ethel Line" become the next Ethel and corresponding number. Without having caught up paperwork, we wouldn't be able to show at any fairs in the Open Class and hence make a sale to Lloyd McCabe. A special "Thank You" goes out to the USSA for giving South Beckman Suffolks amnesty on unregistered animals and helping me catch up.
