Words of Wisdom
Dear Collaborators, As president of the college, my highest priority is keeping our learners at the center of every decision we make. As both an educational institution and a workforce solutions organization, our impact depends on preparing learners to address real- world challenges in health care. Both in theory and in practice, preparation stems from skills and ideas that inevitably drive innovation, serve commu- nities, and impact the future of care. Throughout my time at Nightingale, I have seen that impactful ideas come from every corner of the organization. Leaders are not always the source of great ideas; they are the ones who listen, support, and empower great ideas. Each collaborator plays a vital role in driving the meaningful change we aim to achieve, and as a leader, my priority is to seek out the best ideas, support their implementation, and ensure that those who contribute feel respected and valued. Each collaborator is essential to our success, and when they thrive, our learners thrive, and so does the workforce they serve. Working together to meet goals, share ideas, and strive for improvement will enable us to deliver results as the organization continues to grow.
What continues to inspire me most is the belief that organizational success starts with individual transformation. Our goals can only be reached when each person commits to becoming the best version of themselves. This journey won’t look the same for everyone, and it shouldn’t, but our culture makes space for each collaborator’s unique path toward growth. By fostering a culture that supports individual growth, we can continue to strengthen the collective outcomes we aim to accomplish. This is also true for our learners as we focus on a holistic human-development approach. As an organization, we do a tremendous job of attracting individuals who want to make a difference. The environment we have built allows individuals to bring their skills and passions to life in support of our learners. It is incredibly powerful to see how we continue to evolve, rethinking our practices, processes, and perspectives. We reimagine what is possible in everything from teaching to data, workforce needs to support human potential, and beyond. By constantly exploring new and better ways to teach, learn, and solve problems, we inspire progress in both organizational outcomes and in the lives and communities our learners transform across the healthcare landscape. All my best, Dr. Jeffrey Olsen
