Understanding the Tactical Review and Budgeting Cycle: Our Tactical Review process keeps budgets, forecasts, and operational plans aligned with Nightingale’s strategic outcomes year-round. Monthly Reviews Each function reviews actual spending vs. budget by the last day of every month for the prior month. Semester Review and Updates At the end of each semester, functions complete an Actual Spend Review and Tactical Update. Spring – June 15 Summer – October 15 Fall – February 15 Rolling 12-Month Forecasts Alongside each semester review, teams update forecasts to project results into the same term for the following year. Dynamic Funding Requests After each semester’s review, new funding requests must be submitted (May 31, Sept. 30, and Jan. 31). Requests move through a two-to-four-week workflow for vetting, documentation, and approval. Annual Planning Midyear retreats shape next year’s tactical plans, with budgets finalized in September and due Oct. 15. Together, these steps form a continuous cycle that keeps resources flexible, priorities current, and funding decisions transparent.
