It commemorates Jesus Christan resurrection from death, as written in the christian Bible. The festival is celebrated with special church services. Easter processions are also held in a lot of countries such as the Philippines and spin Haiti. The Easter eggs and Easter bunny plays a symbolic role in the festival of rebirth as they symbol of fertility. Easter is one of the principal holidays, or feasts, of Christianity. It marks the Resurrection of Jesus three days after his death by crucifixion. For many Christian churches, Easter is the joyful end to the Lenten season of fasting and penitence. Easter Sunday, also known as Resurrection Day, is the day Jesus rose from the dead. After his death on the Friday, his body was removed from the cross and his body was placed in a tomb and covered with a large stone, guarded by Roman soldiers. The story behind Easter lies in the New Testament of the Bible which narrates how Jesus was arrested by the Roman authorities because he claimed to be the “Son of God”. He was then sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate, the Roman emperor by crucifixion. His resurrection three days later marks the occasion of Easter. Many Christians worldwide celebrate Easter with special church services, music, candlelight, flowers and ringing of church bells.
