Depuis le 13 janvier à 20h, et ce, pendant 13 semaines les mardis soir, la chaîne Unis diffuse la série documentaire J’habite ici qui se veut une fenêtre sur divers vil- lages et villes, grâce aux confidences de
leurs habitants franco-ontariens. Tournés et produits en Ontario, les 13 épisodes d’une heure présentent une mosaïque de personnages et de rencontres per- mettant de découvrir la vie de quartier,
les institutions, les commerces, etc. Les téléspectateurs sont invités à entrer dans le quotidien de ces gens, à arpenter leur municipalité et à se laisser charmer par la douceur de vivre en français en Onta- rio. Les régions visitées sont Toronto, Vanier, Casselman, Sudbury, Moonbeam, Kapuskasing, Hearst, Alfred-Plantagenet, Alexandria, Cornwall, Kingston, Hawkes- bury et Vankleek Hill.

Les Services communautaires de Prescott- Russell offrent un service de transport pour les aînés afin de les aider à faire leur épicerie. Une fois par semaine, lemardi ou le jeudi, une personne se rend chez l’aîné pour le prendre à bord de sa voiture et le ramener. Pour plus de détails, on appelle Françoise Lavoie au 613-362-6734. Les personnes qui demandent ce service doi- vent transporter leurs sacs eux-mêmes. Programme de jour pour les plus de 60 ans Un programme de jour est offert par les Services communautaires de Prescott et Russell pour les personnes âgées de 60 ans et plus demeurant dans les villages de Casselman, Saint-Albert, Limoges, Em- brun, Russell et Marionville. There is a recall alert on Granny Smith and Gala apples brought into Canada by the U.S. wholesaler, Bidart Bros. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is moni- toring the recall because of suspected contamination of the fruit with the bac- teria that causes listeriosis. The recall alert was first issued December 24 last year and updated in early January this year. It applies to all Granny Smith and Gala apples marketed under the brand name Big B and also Granny Smith apples marketed as Granny’s Best. This recall ap- plies just to those two brands of apples and only to apples brought into Canada through the U.S. company, Bidart Bros. The suspect apples were distributed to stores throughout Ontario and Quebec. The CFIA advises consumers to throw out any suspected apples while retailers are urged to return any unsold apples with these brands to their suppliers. The CFIA recall alert follows on a recall in the U.S. in response to an outbreak of listeriosis traced to the suspect apples. Symptoms of listeriosis include vomiting, nausea, fever, muscle and head ache and neck stiffness. Investigation and monitoring continue and the CFIA will issue further updates as needed.
