Art from the Heart is a collaborative partnership with the Allentown Art Museum, created from a shared passion to empower families through the transformative power of art and expression. This free quarterly program is open to all VHP Children’s Clinic pediatric patients and their families and was designed to help participants process emotions through creativity and mindfulness. Margie Makowski, Manager of Accessibility at Allentown Art Museum, meticulously crafts each session, introducing new mediums and coordinating with museum exhibits. “Each program feels like a warm reunion, as we often see returning families and new VHP families take part in artmaking during the program. This partnership has community and wellness at its core—offering a space for families to create together and focus on themes such as mindfulness, self-expression, and connection” said Makowski. Since its launch two years ago, Art from the Heart has grown significantly—expanding from just 10 participating families to now welcoming 30 families each session. As both new and returning families continue to engage, Art from the Heart stands as a powerful example of what’s possible when creativity and healthcare unite for community impact.
