The Jewish Department is one of the strong depart ments of evangelistic endeavor in the Institute today even as it has been in the past. One of the converts, a Jewish woman, mother of a family, gave a glowing testimony at a recent fellowship luncheon at the Institute. She told how she had heard tbe story of Jesus from different Christians, but had hardened her heart and tried to satisfy her heart and conscience by trying to adhere to the old Jewish law and commandments. Finally she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour and has been used to win at least six Jewish friends and relatives to the Lord. “God has used me in His service to explain to the Jew ish people that we need the Messiah, and to tell them of His sacrifice for the Jews. I praise God for the oppor tunity to tell this to my people. I have a family. I work wherever He puts me. I pray that He will lead me where He wants me and needs me. My own experience has been one of humbleness and lonesomeness. Three years ago my daughter-in-law and my son started to persecute me for Jesus Christ’s sake. I prayed for my daughter- in-law and talked to her about God. I went back home and prayed for her love. I won her for Jesus Christ. She is dead now, but she went to her Saviour. I have had a hard time but praise God I have had the victory. I give Him the honor and glory.” The Jewish Department has been giving Bible talks in the Jewish homes of the city, using a lantern and slides. In some cases whole neighborhoods congregate in one place and listen to the talks. One of the Bible Institute students had the joy of winning two Jewish young men to the Lord at the close of a series of these Old Testament illustrated talks. The young men gave their testimony boldly before neighbors and relatives and, of course, suf fered persecution. God is wonderfully using these lan tern lectures, and is richly blessing the Jewish Department in their various fields of service for Him. —o— “ In Labors More Abundant” O UR hearts rejoice in the reports from our Bible Insti tute Evangelists-at-Large, Revs. Britton Ross and Leo Polman, who are holding a series of meetings in the State of Washington, in the Yakima Valley section. They are to be there eight months. They have already had two campaigns and are now engaged in the third. There have been many conversions and life surrenders, and much in the way of definite results for the Lord. All those who know these men know of their splendid, positive message and will be interested and happy to hear that the Lord is blessing their labors. Building Up in the Faith ANOTHER department of the Girls’ work of the Insti- ± \ . tute comprises the Lyceum-Eteri Clubs. These clubs consist of groups of girls of from fifteen to thirty-five years of age—some of them business girls, some college girls, and some young married women. They, too, meet each week for Bible study and Christian fellowship, and the Lord has richly blessed this work. On December 29th and 30th the Annual Midwinter Conference of Lyceum-Eteri Clubs was held at the Bible Institute. There were nearly three hundred girls who had the joy of attending at least one session of the conference, the greater number being present both days. It was a happy group of girls—just one look at their faces revealed

just preached a good, definite sermon, telling the plan of salvation and urging them to accept Christ. We didn’t mention what they had been doing or criticize them in any way. Some one sang ‘The Old Rugged Cross,’ and the message in song and the Gospel message concluded the service. The results were left with the Lord. “Some weeks later a young man came into thé office and told about doing personal work with a young man in his home. We found that this young man was saved in that meeting. I looked up to the Lord and said, ‘I’ll do what you want me to do, and say what you want me to say.’ He is now at the Institute taking vocal lessons. Won’t you pray for us each day about twelve o’clock noon as we go out to our meetings?” Prayer Does Change Things T HE workers in the Adult Classes are rejoicing in the definite results in their classes. In one particular district it was hard to get a class started. The women were busy in their homes, some had small children and no one to leave them with even for a short time, and some were just frankly indifferent. Finally a small class was organized and the teaching of the Book of Daniel begun. One mother in the class was concerned about her daughter who was riot saved, and who had become interested in a false cult. The teacher called several times but could not find the daughter at home. Finally she called one day and found both mother and daughter at home. The daughter was very gracious and accepted an invitation to the Bible class. The day she came the teacher was teaching the ninth chapter of Daniel. After most of the class had gone the hostess brought this young woman over to the teacher. She asked the teacher questions and expressed her hunger to know more about the Bible and about JeSus Christ. At the close of another session of the same class a woman came to the teacher and said, “I am not saved. Can’t I be saved right here?” It was a great joy for the teacher to explain the plan of salvation and hear her accept Jesus Christ as Saviour. Recently a woman from the North, while on a visit, in this same class definitely ac cepted the Lord. In several cases in the adult work T h e K ing ’ s B usi ness was used to get in touch with the one that they were concerned about. The teacher called, presented a copy of T he K ing ’ s B usiness , and in that way had a contact with the one with whom she wished to deal. This teacher says: “Last August a mother came to me and said, ‘I am broken hearted. I can hardly go to class. My son has gone to the navy.’ We asked his first name. We prayed and con tinued to refnember him in prayer. The mother received a telegram just one week before Christmas saying, ‘Mother, you will be happy to know that last night, while on shore- leave, I went to a meeting and took Jesus Christ as my Saviour.’ We had been praying incessantly. Some of you have children. Do not give up but pray through for their salvation.” — o — This Jewess Found Her Messiah I T is always interesting to hear the reports of the Jewish work from the Jewish workers who are giving their time to preaching the Gospel to Israel. But even more stirring is the testimony of converted Jews themselves as they boldly proclaim their acceptance of Jesus Christ as Saviour and Messiah.
