Neighbour of Note – Dinah Watts Dinah Watts grew up in Oakridge Acres, left London for 35 years to see the world, and is now happily back – living in Wortley Village with her husband David Pauloff since 2012. (We recognized David previously in the Wortley Villager for his gardening and community clean-up efforts). Dinah has a B.A. in English, Economics and Philosophy from McMasters University, and took classes in acting and directing, mostly from Toronto’s Equity Theatre. “As a kid, I went to school at Tecumseh for a while, so when- ever we visited Wortley Village, I had such a powerful sense of nostalgia and we started thinking about living here. And now we do and we’re so glad! I love just walking around the neighbourhood and admiring all the beautiful old houses and shops – and the gardens in summertime! And people are all so friendly here. There is always a “hello” from people we see – even teenaged boys have friendly greetings for us! It’s VERY different from Toronto!” What’s Happening at Landon Library Submitted by Ashleigh Hickey Cursive Writing (Ages 8+) January 20, 2024 10:30 am – noon (Registered) Come learn the benefits of cursive writing and try your hand at some pangrams with Dez, a local archivist. After working in theatre profes- sionally in Toronto, Dinah enjoys acting and directing with com- munity groups, such as the Lon- don Community Players, around London. “It’s such a vibrant com- munity! I’ve been very lucky to be part of many productions – and to meet a ton of wonderful characters who are now great friends,” Dinah exclaims. “As a director,” says Dinah, “I’m always looking for plays that feature women, so I adapted an old chestnut: The Front Page. It is now SCOOPED! The original had a LOT of roles for men (boring), but in this adaptation we are featuring women playing the men – as men. The actors are having a ball finding their ‘male’ characters and it is quite hilarious hearing all those old sexist lines spoken by women. I think people are going to get a big kick out of it.” Above: Dinah played Vicky in the 2013 production of ‘Swing Dance’.
