The Vankleek Hill Cougars had a quieter weekend than expected as the first snowstorm of the season cancelled their Sunday game in Orléans against the Cumberland Castors. Saturday night in the Cougars Den at the Vankleek Hill Arena, the home team put the fire out 5-1 for the Metcalfe Jets. The Cougars dominated the game from the start with Bruno Laframboise getting the scoring started with a first-period goal six minutes into the game. Assisting Laframboise on getting the first point for the Cougars were Alexandre Chenier and Reid Cunning. Second period saw both sides make goals but with the Cougars still leading on the scoreboard during the second intermission. Garrett Cunning, assisted by Reid Cunning, scored Vankleek Hill’s second point during the first couple minutes of the period. Three minutes before the end of the period Nick Spirito put the Jets on the scoreboard, with help from Jackson Marshall and Nickolas Gauthier. The last half of third period saw the Cougars rushing the Jets net starting with a mid-period goal by Nolan MacMillan, assisted by Jacob Crete and Bradley Hor- ner. About a minute later Rylan Wolowicz added another point to the Cougars’ total, with help from Nikolas Mayer.

About a minute later MacMillan popped in the final goal of the game, with Johnny Kirby assisting. As of mid-November now the National Capital Junior Hockey League standings have the Cougars and les Aigles de Saint- Isidore still tied for first place, with 10 games played and 10 wins each. Following are the Westport Rideaus with 11 games played and seven wins and two
losses in regular play, one tie game, and one overtime loss. The Kanata Kings are next with eight games played and five wins, two losses and one tie match resulting. The South Grenville Rangers have 11 games finished with five wins, five losses in regular play, and one over-time loss. The Jets have 10 games played with four wins and six losses. The Castors have nine games played
for two wins, six losses in regular play and one over-time loss. The North Dundas Rockets have 11 games played for one win and 10 losses. At the bottom of the standings are the Morrisburg Lions with 12 games finished for one win and 11 losses. The Cougars host the Rockets this Saturday night and the Rangers Sunday afternoon.

Several mayors on UCPR council question whether any change is needed for how long a mayor may sit as warden. Other mayors agree that a two-year term could provide more continuity when dealing with some critical issues. UCPR administration was directed to provide a more detailed report on the issue for council to review this month and decide whether or not to change the term of office for the warden. The report will include infor- mation on how other regional governments in Ontario handle the matter, and include the benefits and possible problems. How many years should a mayor sit as warden for the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR)? That is a question that the mayors of the region may decide before the end of this year. &BSMJFSJOUIFZFBSBENJOJTUSBUJPOTUBGGGPS the UCPR presented counties council with a report about the possibility of changing the term of office for the warden of the UCPR from one year to two years. The intent was to provide more continuity for the leadership of UCPR council in dealing with major issues. JOURNALISTE
Fonctions : • Rédiger des articles sur une variété de sujets, y compris des sujets découlant de réunions municipales, d'événements communautaires, de sports, d'arts, etc. • Travailler dans une salle de rédaction composée de journalistes, en relisant les articles et en élaborant des plans pour chaque journal hebdomadaire. • Prendre des photos et enregistrer des vidéos • Mettre en page le journal à l'aide d'InDesign • Préparer des articles pour le site web et l'application mobile. Qualifications : • Formation en journalisme ou dans un domaine pertinent ; ou expérience pertinente. • Bilingue : capacité à communiquer en anglais et en français ; la capacité à bien écrire dans les deux langues sera considérée comme un atout important.
