This new position will focus on the wider transition of the whole university environment into a circular economy, and responsible consumption. Moving to a circular economy is important to the university and will help to deliver against Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12 on responsible consumption and production. It will also deliver benefits across the other 11 SDGs such as SDG9 on industrial development, and SDG13 on climate action amongst others. To eliminate waste, encourage the recirculation of products and materials and help to regenerate nature you will work to identify and deliver a range of activities and outputs associated with waste management and responsible consumption that employs reuse, sharing, repair, refurbishment, remanufacturing and recycling to create a closed-loop system, minimising the use of resource inputs and the creation of waste, pollution and carbon emissions. We are looking for an individual who has experience working on waste reduction, and effective resources management through responsible consumption, preferably within the higher education sector or within a large complex dynamic organisation. You will be passionate about sustainability, have strong research and administration skills, be able to constructively manage stakeholder relationships, and have a positive, can-do attitude. University Context: The FRCS teams have a key role to play in maintaining the buildings and engineering infrastructure of the University to support the academic and research departments, based in 300 buildings (500,000 m2) across the 255 ha site. The diverse Estate includes many listed buildings from Georgian and Victorian periods as well as contemporary buildings and conservation areas coupled with the complex research laboratories this provides many challenges in maintaining and servicing the estate.
