fact, in any relation- ship, it is very differ- ent between knowing someone and know- ing about them. God is everywhere present and we can each cul- tivate a “knowing” re- lationship with Him. The Gospel is the story of Jesus and God was in Christ rec- onciling the world unto Himself. As we read and study the Gospel we learn to know
sins and believe that Jesus gave His blood in death on the cross to atone for our sins. That faith starts us in our walk with the Lord. It creates a de- sire to learn more and more about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. We will then “know
them” in a personal way. Our prayer: “O Lord open the eyes of many in our time!” Rod & Staff Publishers W6053 County Rd. X Withee, WI 54498 (715) 229-9400

without thinking about God. Some, no doubt, are forced by circumstances to consider a Sovereign Power that rules the universe but only a few will take the time to follow the di- rection given in this song. In Psalm 19, we have this; “The heavens declare the glory of God; the firmament showeth His handiwork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge.” The Psalm goes on to enumerate various things of the creation that speak of God’s marvelous work in creation and then it moves into the value of the Law of God. “The Law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.” The whole Psalm is instructive of the value of considering all the marvels of creation and of the Word of God. There really is no excuse for the ignorance that is painfully evident every- where, even among those who consider themselves to be Christian. It is not enough to “know about God” because that is not the same as “know- ing Him” in a personal way. In
God. When we come to know God as He is, we will also love Him and that love relationship is a growing experience. If we begin to walk with God as the poet suggests, we will be blessed every day because we will see His movements in our life as well as in the world around us. God is good in every way to the believer. In some ways, Satan dominates the world. But the true believer sees the movements and the divine control that God exercises over the evil movements of Satan. While the evils of humanity dom- inate the media, I see the movements of Christ’s kingdom as it moves and spreads in many different parts of the world. I’d like to encourage you to open your heart to God and believe the Gospel as we have it represented in the New Testament. In order to walk with God we do need to repent of our
Begin the day with God. A song I learned in my youth has a message for every generation. “Begin the day with God, Kneel down to Him in prayer; Lift up thine heart to His abode, And seek His love to share. Open the book of God, and read a portion there; That it may hal- low all thy thoughts, And sweeten all thy care. Go through the day with God, What e’re thy work may be; Wher-e’er thou art, at home abroad, He still is near to thee. Converse in mind with God; Thy spirit heavenward raise; Acknowledge every good be- stowed, And offer grateful praise. Conclude the day with God; Thy sins to Him confess. Trust in the Lord’s atoning blood, And plead His righteous- ness.” There is no name at the head of this song, but it certainly has a formula for a life of peace and blessing. My heart is pained when I think of the multitudes of people who live
