They were unconcerned with their personal welfare as is clearly revealed in their distant travels through strange country, and their appearance at the throne of a hostile king. Truly they presented themselves living sacrifices. 2., This attitude of heart is the only right approach to God. All precious gifts that 4you may offer are value less until you have met the chal lenge of Romans 12:1, 2. III. HE LEADS TO SERVICE. True worship and sacrifice always find their display in service. When the wise men came they fully ex pected to follow through with per sonal service rendered to -the Son of God. 1. They offered gifts. It seems that the list of gifts mentioned here in dicates the very best, that which be comes a sweet smelling savor to God. Let us be mindful that our offerings to the Saviour are to be after this manner. Our second best is not enough. 2. They returned to their own coun try testifying* Although nothing is said here about their return, it would take the wildest of imagination to suppose that they were silent con cerning the birth of the One who was to be the world’s Saviour. If the star has led you to the feet of the Lord Jesus to worship and sacrifice, -is it possible for you to remain silent? IV. HE LEADS TO BLESSED EX PECTANCY. 1. The expectancy with which they arrived at Bethlehem was n6t less ened because of the lowliness of birth. Here was the long-promised Deliverer of Israel, and they looked to Him as One who would satisfy the longings of their hearts. 2. When the Spirit leads us to the feet of Jesus, it is then that we are reminded of our blessed heritage in Him. In Him lies that daily expectancy of new blessings and new manifesta tions of His grace. In Him we inherit eternal life .with all that that means; in Him lies all our hope for the future, here and hereafter (1 John 3:2, 3; Tit. 2:13; 3:7; 2 Tim. 2:12). Conclusion When we humbly approach Christ in the manner just outlined, it will be possible for others to find Him through us. The wise men came to the most likely spot in all the world to find the Saviour, but were directed elsewhere. Many knew where His birth ought to be, but they had no personal contact because they were not willing to follow in the way that we have just studied.
