December 13, 2022, at age 55. Jeffrey Lewis Laster was born on July 14, 1967, to the late Robert and Geraldine Laster in Atlantic City, NJ, and was affectionately known as “Jeff” or “Coach Jeff.” Laster’s love for edu- cation began in the Atlantic City Public School System, where he excelled. After graduating high school, he attended West Texas A&M University and spent one year at Morehouse College before returning to West Texas A&M University to complete his college education. He graduated from West Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Education and an M.S. in Communication. He also later obtained a Master of Education and Leadership from Nova University. Laster devoted his life to “his” children in the classroom, on the court, or in life. His passion for educating and giving back is

president of the National Pharmaceutical Associ- ation, Board Member of the Council of Overseers at Long Island University, Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy, Publication Consultant at the American College of Apothecaries, and Pharmaceutical Industry Consultant at Labat Ander- son Inc., Geneva Project. Among his professional achievements, Labat was a four-time winner of the Bristol Myers-Squibb Pin- nacle Award; Summit Award Winner, Bristol Myers- Squibb, for Number One Specialty Sales Manager in the USA and recipient of the Black Achievers Award in Industry, from the Harlem YMCA.
A Life Member of the Fraternity, Labat was a charter member of the Beaufort-Jasper-Hilton Head (SC) Alumni Chap- ter, where he served as a board member, chair of the Senior Kappa Affairs Committee, and an orga- nizer of the Senior Kappa lunches and the Silhouette Valentines Sweetheart dinners. Brother Michael L. Labat, Sr., is survived by his wife, Connie Ray, children Michael Jr. and Tracy Labat Porter; grandchildren Phoebe, Zoe, and Connie Labat; siblings Victor and Joseph Labat (Kappa 1962) and their spouses Deidre and Dorothy; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews. ♦

Brother Laster is survived by their sister Karen Last- er-Terry; sons Tavares Battie and Kendall Laster (Norris- town (PA) Alumni 2022); and two grandsons, Kam’ren and Tyler. He is also survived by siblings Ricky Laster and Peggy Sloan. ♦
