Robert E. Mines, III, D.D.S. 1965-2023 Dentist D r. Robert E. Mines, III (Kappa 1991) entered the Chapter

Robert L. Reeves 1932-2023

Postal Systems Examiner, Budget Officer, Supervisor O n July 11, 2023, Robert L. Reeves (Alpha Phi 1952)

entered the Chapter Invis- ible at 90. He was born to the late James and Rachel Reeves on November 30, 1932, in Norfolk, Virginia. He graduated with honors from Booker T. Washington High School in 1949, where he participated in the march- ing and concert band. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Virginia State College (now Univer- sity) in 1953. A distinguished military career awaited him as he entered the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in July 1953 from his high school ROTC program. He served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in 1956, after which he contin- ued his commitment to the Army Reserves, faithfully serving until his retirement as a Lt. Colonel after 28 years of remarkable service. In 1956, Robert joined the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1990,

Invisible on June 5, 2023, at age 57. Robert Edward Mines, III, was born in Detroit, MI, on August 30, 1965. After graduat- ing from Berkeley, CA’s Saint Mary’s College High School, Mines entered Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, and earned his degree from Clark Atlanta University. He earned a D.D.S. degree from Meharry Medical College. Mines left Nashville, TN, for New York City to complete his Oral and Max- illofacial Surgery residency at Harlem Hospital. Mines practiced dentistry in New York for over 30 years. Brother Robert E. Mines, III is survived by daughter Lourdes; parents Robert Jr. and Rev. Barbara Mines Barron; sisters Robin (Mines) Baxter and Ressa (Stella Mines) Rickson;

after 38 years of creditable service. He was a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi and the Portsmouth-Suffolk (VA) Alumni Chapter for 48 years, where he exemplified the fraternity’s fundamental purpose of achievement throughout the fabric of his life. Reeves was Kappa Alpha Psi’s 449th initiate in 1952 at Virginia State College, Alpha Phi Chapter, on April 26, 1952. He served the Portsmouth-Suffolk (VA) Alumni Chapter with exemplary and profound distinction in several capacities, including the Office of Keeper of Exche- quer.
