As a member of Detroit Alumni, Brother Kyles has held the offices of Lt. Strategus, Asst. Keeper of Records, member of the Board of Directors (1992-1998), Vice Pole- march (2003-2005) and was the 39th Polemarch (2005-2008). He has held various committee chairmanships (Fundraising, Golf, Black & White Ball, Reclamation and 64th Northern Province Local Planning) and served on numerous committees. He has also been a board member of the Kappa Detroit Foundation (1993-2011) in which he served in roles as Vice President and Chairman of the Schol- arships & Grants Committee. At the Grand Chapter level, Brother Kyles has served on several national committees (Nominations, Elections and Finance). From 1995 to 1999, he served under 28th Grand Pole- march Ronald R. Young as Chairman of the National Student Revolving Loan Fund. He also served as Vice Chairman of the Council of Prov- ince Polemarchs (2019-2021) and as Vice Chairman of the Council of Senior Province Vice Polemarchs (2015-2016). Professionally, he is a Senior Program Manager and leader within the Product Development area of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, leading enterprise wide multi-million-dollar projects to bring new products and services to the healthcare insurance market. He has continued his entrepreneurial
Certified Public Accountant with more than 44 years of diverse and progressive experience in accounting and finance. His business leadership experience covers start-up companies, the private and public sectors, and non-profit organizations. Initiated at the Eastern Michigan University Chapter, The Delta Nu of Kappa Alpha Psi in 1974, Brother Bass holds a Bachelor of Business Admin- istration degree in accounting. His career started at PriceWaterhouse- Coopers, a “Big Four” International CPA firm.” Currently, Brother Bass holds the position of Chief Financial Officer at the Corpus Christi Housing Author- ity and Affiliates, responsible for agency-wide finance and affordable housing development. He provides vision, direction, and leadership to plan, implement, and manage processes of accounting, financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, strategic planning, audits, regulatory reporting, partnerships compliance, risk management, tax filings, asset management, and procurement. In addition, Brother Bass ensures mon- itoring and compliance with policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Likewise, he provides idea leadership as a primary advocate for internal control and initiator of early warnings regarding financial and operational integrity, efficiency, and effectiveness. Also, his work includes collaboration with the board of directors, audit committees, executive management, and external auditors. Life member Bother Bass has membership with the San Antonio
activities as a partner in MPressions Marketing, LLC and Inscriptiongolf, LLC, which both provide promotional products and marketing services. He is also an adjunct instructor of Business and Economics at Wayne County Community College District and Upper Iowa University. Brother Kyles and his wife Zena (Alpha Kappa Alpha) have been married for more than 30 years. He has one daughter (Autumn (AKA), two sons (Andre’ and Kevin), and one granddaughter (Amira).
RHEN C. BASS, SR., CPA Grand Keeper of Exchequer
Life member Rhen C. Bass, Sr, was elected to the office of Grand Keeper of Exchequer. He has previously served the fraternity as the Grand Keeper of Records and Exchequer since 2019. Brother Bass was bestowed the prestigious 83rd Elder Watson Diggs Award during the 78th Grand Chapter Meeting in Minneapolis, MN, in 2007.
