advocacy to her community through non-profit organizations such as the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, a women’s advocacy group, as the current president of the Tampa Bay Area Chapter. “I consider myself a servant leader, because serving others is a direct path to live here on Earth, and I do believe that God has ordered my steps, and that’s why I continue to do what I do, and that is serve others in our commu- nity,” stated Berry. The 77th Distinguished Citizen Awardee was Estrellita Berry, MA. Berry serves as President and CEO of REACHUP, Inc., a community non- profit whose mission is to advocate

for and mobilize resources to help communities achieve equality in healthcare and positive health for families. Thus, 12 programs were created and implemented to help our community achieve equality in healthcare and positive health outcomes for families across the life course. Commendable services were rendered as an affiliate faculty member at the University of South Florida College of Public Health Department of Community and Family Health. The 78th Distinguished Citizen Award, was Dr. Dexter M. Fredrick, MD. Dr. Fredrick is currently the founder and CEO of Brain Expansions

GRAND CHAPTER AWARDS CEREMONY

One of the highlights of the Grand Chapter Meeting is recognizing our distinguished citizens awards as well as our fraternity achievers. This year’s ceremonies began with our Distin- guished Citizens Awards. The 76th Distinguished Citizens Honoree was Belinthia A. Berry MS. Berry is the dean of Workforce Devel- opment at St. Petersburg College. There, she manages workforce and professional development training programs that meet the needs of local and national businesses, industries, and individuals. As an advocate and community servant, Berry provides service and

 THE LAUREL WREATH AWARD of Kappa Alpha Psi is the highest award available to a member of the Fraternity for extra meritorious achievement that is at least national in scope and effect. The award consists of the Fraternity coat of arms wreathed in laurel leaves—symbolic of the wreaths used by ancient Greeks to crown the victors in various contests—and a framed certificate of merit.
