Scholastic Training, a communi- ty-based initiative whose mission is to identify, inspire, develop, and educate for the focus of underrepresented and disadvantaged youth to address the national shortage of healthcare professionals that will impact under- served communities. He is the author of the book Flatlining: Reviving the Heartbeat of Diversity in Medicine , which sheds light on the lack of rep- resentation in the medical profession of color. The 79th Distinguished Citizen Honoree was The Honorable Lesley J. Miller, Jr., LHD. (Zeta Chi 1975). Brother Dr. Miller currently serves as principal at Shumaker Advisors Flor- ida, LLC. He has previously served as a member of the Hillsborough County Commission Third District, member of the Florida Senate 18th District,
and member of the Florida House of Representatives 59th District. The 80th Distinguished Citizen Award recipient was Kevin B. Sneed, PharmD, FNAP, FAPHA. Sneed is a tenured professor and the found- ing dean of the USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy. He also serves as Senior Associate Vice President of USF Health. Dr. Sneed’s research and clinical interests include the advance- ment of pharmacological treatment of patients with cardio metabolic disor- ders, examining healthcare disparities, and emergent health technologists. He directed a program known as In Shape and mentored a professional
student health assessment project and evaluation, which addressed cardiovas- cular disparities in Tampa, Florida. THE ELDER WATSON DIGGS AWARD of Kappa Alpha Psi is the second highest award available to a Fraternity member for meritorious achievement. The award consists of a gold medallion bearing a likeness of Founder Elder Watson Diggs and a framed certificate of merit.
