As an undergraduate fraternity operating through functional alumni and undergraduate chapters, we’re going to put our undergraduate demographic on Front Street, except for a few places where it’s not practi- cal to do so. Nupes, there’s no time to play dream or drift. There’s a generation of young men counting on us, 73% of Black kids in this country don’t have a father or positive male role model active in their lives. So, it’s our responsibility to be the standard of manhood in our homes and in our communities. After 112 years of history as an organization, we understand our challenge for the future—but what will the future history book say about your level of commitment and ser- vice as we build a better fraternity? My Brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi, we need you. Kappa needs you. Our communities need you, I need you. I hope you’re ready to work. I hope you’re ready to go. I leave you with one of the shortest words in En- glish, but perhaps one of the most powerful. It’s a word used to rally men of achievement worldwide for generations. Whether young or old, whether you’re dark and lovely, caramel, mocha, or claiming that light skin is in, whether dreaded, whether bald, or whether sporting the distinguished look of salt and pepper hair, if achievement has been your goal and Phi Nu Pi is your reason why, you’ll understand what I have to say. So, Brothers, I’ll just simply say ‘Yo.’
were initiated into this fraternity. So I’m asking for your commitment to impactful involvement. And the final ask is for everyone to be invested. There are four things that I need everyone to do to be invest- ed. If you know brothers that aren’t financial, tell them to get financial, tell them to stay financial; third, encourage everybody in your collective sphere of influence to get financial; and then finally, support the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation. At a high level, the 35th Admin- istration will move this fraternity forward through our commitment to focus on eight areas: undergrad- uate leadership and development, brand management, finances, Guide Right, infrastructure and operations, membership service, our organiza- tional culture, and finally, training for leadership. Within those areas are a series of goals and strategies that will position Kappa Alpha Psi as the great- est social service organization—not a fraternity but an organization that transcends fraternity bonds. Undergraduate growth and development are among the most important areas on which the 35th Administration will focus. We’ll spend considerable time, energy, and effort rebuilding the membership numbers on campuses that diminished during the Coronavirus pandemic. We’ll also be building and safeguarding the fi- nancial viability of our undergraduate chapters. As a result, we’ll be rolling out a new undergraduate and alumni initiative, working with the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation to create a fund where anyone can donate dollars to directly support your undergraduate chapter of initiation or any undergrad- uate chapter of your choosing.
informed of who you are and what is needed of you. Grasp the magnitude of what 112 years of African American achievement represents in the world, and how our founders expected each member to continue and contribute to that legacy of greatness. Accept the fact that the house of Kappa flourishes only when we make Kappa our priority. Don’t forget that we are the standard of manhood in our homes and our communities. By being informed, I need you to keep your finger on the pulse of what’s happening regarding our noble clan. Find ways to involve yourself in find- ing solutions and elevating our brand. The second thing that I’m asking everyone to do is be involved. Once you become informed and truly understand who we are as an orga- nization and what you are as men of Kappa, you should be proud, should be inspired, and motivated to be involved. Let me qualify what being involved means. That means I’m asking every brother to do something of meaningful service to our frater- nity. Your involvement, contribution and service in whatever capacity you commit has to be measurable. One of my favorite quotes is, “Service is the price that we pay for the space we occupy on Earth.” To borrow from the spirit of that quote as it relates to Kappa, the price for all the benefits that come along with membership. The grocery bill for all the fruits that we continue to eat off the Kappa tree, the payback or every hookup, every way in, or every way over, every way out, or every way through that membership in this fraternity has given you is repayable simply by serving in the manner that you promised you would when you
