PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
THE PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS PRACTITIONERS was a joint project between ACPA and NASPA to define the broad set of professional knowledge, skills, and in some cases, attitudes expected of student affairs professionals, regardless of their areas of specialization or positional role within the field. Within the conference program, sessions that fall into particular competency areas are marked with the acronyms as indicated below.
Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) CE Credits The Certified Student Affairs Educator-Fraternity and Sorority Life (CSAEd-FSL) credential is designed exclusively for fraternity and sorority life specialists who are mid-level and above, as well as student affairs educators looking to transition into fraternity and sorority life specialist and senior-level roles. Developed by AFA subject matter experts and built upon the foundation of the core student affairs educator certification (CSAEd), this specialty credential demonstrates continuous learning, competency, and knowledge in established domains which are essential to success in the complex and evolving landscape of fraternity and sorority life work. To view all sessions eligible for CSAEd-FSL CE Credits, navigate to the event schedule in the NASPA Events app and filter for the track name CE Credit - FSL. Continuing Education for Professional Counselors (NBCC) NASPA has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 5120. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. NASPA is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. Participants can receive a maximum of nine clock hours for this event. Up to six additional clock hours are available for attending pre-conference workshops. Instructions for obtaining credit are available in the NASPA Events app. The deadline to submit a continuing education request for this event is April 19, 2025. Student Conduct Administration (SC) CE Credits The Certified Student Affairs Educator-Student Conduct Administration (CSAEd-SC) credential is designed exclusively for student conduct administration specialists who are mid-level and above, as well as student affairs educators looking to transition into student conduct administration specialist and senior- level roles. Developed by ASCA subject matter experts and built upon the foundation of the core student affairs educator certification (CSAEd), this specialty credential demonstrates continuous learning, competency, and knowledge in established domains which are essential to success in the complex and evolving landscape of student conduct administration work. General Certificate of Attendance A general certificate of attendance is available for sessions that are not eligible for available continuing education types, or to document hours for other licenses or credentials. This certificate may also be used for administrative purposes like proof of attendance for travel reimbursements.
