Brad Burrell’s Commitment to Quality Homes Where Precision Meets Passion
Stonewood WATKINSVILLE, GA Summerville ATHENS, GA Yellowstone Farm CUMMING, GA
In many ways, purchasing a home is a focal point of the American dream. There’s nothing quite like buying a piece of land to call your own where you can comfortably and safely rest your head at night, create cherished memories, and raise a family. It’s also one of the most significant purchases many of us will make during our lifetime, so it makes sense we would want our homes to be as structurally sound as possible while providing the perfect layout to meet our family’s wants and needs. I’m Brad Burrell, the VP of Construction at SR Homes, and I take immense pride in building quality homes for our clients.
COMING SOON! Sterlington CANTON, GA
Since I was young, I have known I wanted to work in this industry. My granddad owned and operated a painting and remodeling company, and my dad owned a plumbing business. I grew up watching them work and was fascinated whenever I saw them figure out a solution to a problem. As I grew older, I knew I wanted to follow in their footsteps, providing some type of helpful service to homeowners. Little did I know I would someday be responsible for constructing new homes and ensuring homeowners have everything they want in a home. I spent eight years with another homebuilder in the Atlanta area before moving to SR Homes. It’s been a great fit, and I’ve greatly enjoyed my time here!
crumble around them. I’m incredibly detail-oriented and try to ensure everything is as it should be!
FOR YOUR BUSINESS
If you purchase one of our homes, we’ll likely never interact. I do most of my work behind the scenes, but you can rest easy knowing we’ve put all our effort into making everything perfect. That’s one of the primary things you can expect when choosing SR Homes. Everyone on the team wants to make our clients happy and is willing to provide them with whatever they need and want. While I love my job and everything it entails, I also take advantage of my time away from work. I have a wife and two kids, ages 9 and 19. We love to spend time outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding around on ATVs, and camping. It’s always a good time when we can spend a few hours outside together as a family! I look forward to many more years of building beautiful homes for our clients! –Brad Burrell

Having hot water is a luxury many take for granted, but it can be frustrating when the water takes too long to heat up. A lag in hot water temperature can be due to many factors, including uninsulated pipes, lower water temperature settings, or something as simple as not realizing the knob isn’t turned all the way. No matter the case, anyone’s patience can grow thin when waiting on hot water, especially when they desperately need the pampering of a relaxing bath or shower.
Before frustration sets in and you take a hammer to the tap, here are three common culprits preventing your water from getting hot enough, fast enough!
THE WATER HEATER IS SET TO A LOWER TEMPERATURE. Most water heaters have adjustable control settings (except for heaters in rented spaces). However, for most homes, changing the heat to a higher setting only requires manually adjusting the temperature to the desired degree. Also, consider the time it takes for the hot water to reach the tap. You may set the temperature to a specific degree, but it may be a few degrees cooler when it reaches you. THE WATER HEATER IS TOO FAR FROM THE SHOWER. Ideally, water heaters are placed centrally in a home, but that isn’t always the case. Basements and laundry closets are common areas for water heaters, and in many instances, they are a good distance away from the kitchen or bathrooms. When this is an issue, it can take some time for the water to heat. THE PIPES AREN’T INSULATED. Areas like an unfinished basement or crawlspace can be the culprits for slow- heating water. As the warm water passes through the pipes, the pipes warm up, but that can take time. Depending on the location of the pipes, you can insulate them, but if it’s not worth the time or effort, it’s best to have a little more patience with your water heater!
Why Does My Water Take So
Long to Get Hot? Common Reasons Your Shower Is Cold
Small Changes, Big Savings CLEVER WAYS TO LOWER YOUR ELECTRIC BILL RIGHT NOW
We’ve recently seen costs go up everywhere, from groceries to gas. This has led many to find new ways to cut costs elsewhere, with some even making extra efforts to lower their electric bills. Even if you’re not worried about saving a few dollars, making energy-efficient adjustments around your home can help your appliances last longer and perform more effectively. Here are three energy-efficient actions you can take right now to lower electric bills and better protect your appliances. TURN OFF YOUR CEILING FAN. Many people run their ceiling fans all day, thinking it will help keep the room comfortable, but that’s not necessarily true. Ceiling fans produce a wind chill effect that can make the space feel cooler
when we’re in the room. However, this effect does not bring down the temperature. Ceiling fans are designed to cool down people, not rooms. Any fan running all day in your home could add $7 to your monthly electric bill. Do this with multiple fans, and it adds up quickly. BE EFFICIENT WITH YOUR LAUNDRY. How often do you change the settings on your washer and dryer? Do you run every load through the same cycle? If so, you could be wasting a ton of water and energy. Adjust the water level to match the load size and choose cold water whenever possible since hot water requires much more energy. Your water heater typically uses the most energy in your home. Keep in mind that it requires just as much energy to run a full load as it does to wash one item. Clean out your lint filter
before every load and use the auto sensor function, if your dryer has one, to dry your clothes faster and conserve energy. FIND THE ENERGY THIEVES. Some electronics in your house may draw power throughout the day, even if they appear to be off. Instead of plugging electronics into your wall outlet, plug them into a surge protector. That way, you can easily turn off the surge protector when you’re not actively using the items connected to it.

CREATE A HOME OFFICE THAT WORKS FOR YOU Stop Working From Your Couch!
DECIDE ON A DESIGNATED SPACE. Your home needs to be clean, organized, and distraction-free. Don’t plan on moving around your house with your work computer throughout the day. Instead, set everything up in a designated room or area of your home, ideally away from the common areas. This will help your family recognize when you’re in work mode so they don’t needlessly bother you. You’ll also avoid distractions when other activities occur around your home. BUY COMFORTABLE FURNITURE. You shouldn’t throw your home office together with an old card table and one of your kitchen chairs. Make it feel like a real work environment. Consider purchasing an adjustable chair with lumbar support to maintain and improve your posture. If you’re worried about sitting all day, look into standing desks. You want your work area to be as comfortable as possible. KEEP IT CLEAN AND PERSONALIZED. Where you work should bring you at least some joy. Decorate it with pictures of your family and friends, inspirational sayings, and other knick-knacks that produce happy thoughts. You should also make an extra effort to keep the area clean. Don’t let your coffee mugs and trash pile up. Spend time organizing and cleaning your workspace at the end of each day. It might help to purchase a desk organizer to keep your files and other documents in a designated area.
The pandemic popularized the idea of remote work, but even a few years later, many Americans are still working from the comfort of their homes. Whether you work remotely full time or take a hybrid approach and only work from home a few days per week, having a dedicated workspace is vital to managing your responsibilities. When you have a home office that supports your efforts, you’ll be much more productive and focused while performing your regular tasks. Setting up a home office isn’t as simple as placing your laptop on the kitchen table. It takes intention and thoughtful planning to ensure your office fits your needs. Here are a few ways to design an office that promotes productivity and good work habits.

The Secrets to Perfectly Styled Shelves
SHELF-STYLED Turn Your Shelves Into a Showstopper Styling your shelves is an opportunity to let your creativity run wild! With a few thoughtful tweaks, your shelves can go from cluttered chaos to chic and cohesive. EMBRACE THE ‘LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT’ RULE. If it’s not practical, sentimental, or something you absolutely adore, it doesn’t belong on your shelf. A few well-placed pieces can be far more striking than an overcrowded display. PICK A PALETTE, NOT A PAINT SPLATTER. Stick to a cohesive palette to avoid a jumble of clashing colors. Pair whites with soft creams, metallics, and neutrals for a sophisticated look. ADD ARTWORK FOR PERSONALITY. Lean a piece of art against the back or hang it on the molding for extra flair. It doesn’t have to be fancy — a framed kid’s drawing can add the character your shelves need to pop. PLAY WITH TEXTURE AND HEIGHT. Mix in baskets, wooden objects, or textured vases to keep things interesting. Combine varying heights and sizes, but stay true to your palette.
