Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., Case No. 1-CC-141000708 (Hawaii Cir. Ct. May 21, 2024) (settlement agreement reached to resolve claim alleging they marketed and sold Plavix in an unfair and deceptive manner, and that the companies failed to disclose that the drug could be harmful to those of East Asian and Pacific Islander ancestry). 8. $880 million – Southern California Clergy Cases , Case No. JCCP-5101 (Cal. Super Ct. Oct. 16, 2024) (settlement reached with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to resolve more than 1,300 claims of childhood sexual abuse dating back decades). 9. $750 million – In Re Aqueous Film-Forming Foams Products Liability Litigation, Case No. 18-MN- 2873 (D.S.C. Nov. 22, 2024) (final settlement approval granted to resolve claims that Johnson Controls International PLC subsidiary Tyco Fire Products LP’s contaminated public water systems with “forever chemicals” that came from firefighting foam it made). 10. $700 million – In Re Johnson & Johnson Talcum Powder Products Marketing, Sales Practices And Products Liability Litigation , Case No. 16-MD-2738 (D.N.J. June 11, 2024) (final consent judgment entered in a multi-district litigation with 42 state attorneys general to resolve claims that Johnson & Johnson wrongfully marketed its talc-based baby powder by not warning about possible health risks).
