A Transformation of Our Boise Door Shop

I am excited to share an update on our door shop addition and remodel. When you read this, we will have completed our final inspection of the addition, marking the commencement of full-scale remodeling of the existing facility.

utilization. Additionally, we’re introducing 14 staging boxes, matching the size of our delivery trailers. This strategic move enables us to build and stage doors for up to three days, significantly improving our current processes.

Upon completion, our employees and customers will witness a transformation in dealing with doors, millwork, and hardware.

The expansion will increase our facility size from 38,000 square feet to an impressive 68,000

Our focus on product consistency and capacity is highlighted by introducing the new KVAL CNC automated door machine. It has exceeded our expectations in testing, and we are thrilled to announce its capacity to produce 250–300 doors per day. Coupled with our existing vertical machines, we are effectively doubling our current capacity. Despite doubling the existing capacity, we only anticipate needing two more employees, showcasing the efficiency gains achieved through automation. Trent McKnight, our talented door shop manager, and his team are diligently working to streamline our flow processes. While we acknowledge there may be challenges in laying out machinery, racking, and flow charts, we are confident in our plan to ensure a smooth material flow from vendor receiving to the job site delivery. The new offices and showroom are designed to provide customers with a centralized location to meet our sales team and make selections on their finished products. As the Treasure Valley grows, we are committed to being the preferred supplier for our products. This substantial improvement in the door shop positions us to meet our goals and, more importantly, meet the evolving needs of our valued customers.

square feet. The new addition allows us to stock more materials, all of which will now be covered. The remodel encompasses new offices, a sales area, a showroom, a conference room, a break room, and upgraded bathrooms. This expansion enhances safety measures and provides an opportunity to expand our continuous improvement skills. We’ve invested in five new multi-directional forklifts to maximize space

We look forward to the day when we can proudly offer everyone a tour of our world-class facility.

HIGH FIVES!

Guide From: Linda Szerwo, Jerome Truss To: Kathleen Putnam, Jaguar Corporate

“I would like to give a High Five to Kathleen Putnam. Kathleen goes above and beyond to help anyone with any issue. She is always positive and friendly no matter the question. Thank you, Kathleen. You are appreciated!”

Easy From: Mike Zimmer, Caldwell Truss To: Titus Smith, Remote Truss Designer

Safe From: Aaron Arevalo, Jerome To: Mitchell Sherman and David “Lane” Giles

“I would like to give Titus a High Five for always being willing to jump in and tackle tasks outside his current work. He has done a great job jumping in and double-checking jobs for me to ensure the truss packs going out the door are accurate and meet the customers’ expectations while helping make building easy. He is a great team member by being receptive to any design advice I offer when I check his jobs and always asking questions instead of making assumptions to get in front of any issues ahead of production time.”

“I’d like to give a huge High Five to our Magic Valley mechanics, Mitch and David “Lane.” We ran into an issue with one of our trailers; an air canister was busted, so our driver called Mitch. With urgency, Lane came over and fixed the issue within an hour. With great power comes great responsibility; these powerful mechanics can fix damages so schedules don’t change. I appreciate the urgency to fix a vehicle on their tight schedule.”

Wow From: Joey Green. Boise To: Brianna LeBow, Driver “Brianna did an incredible job

delivering material to Hearts Dream Home. The customer said she was extremely professional, her people skills were top-notch, and she was very accommodating to their needs. Nice job, and thanks for the great help, Brianna!”

“I have recently asked Glenn and Cameron to do some tasks normally outside their scope of work or to pivot and change gears to jump to another job. They have been great team players, so we can get jobs and warranties wrapped up. ”

LOCATION SPOTLIGHT WELCOME TO THE BURLEY YARD

The Burley yard is taking a bold step forward by returning to the basics. We are prioritizing safety and operational excellence. This move signifies a dedication to foundational values that ensures employees’ well-being and enhances the operation’s efficiency.

Safety, the cornerstone of any successful operation, is at the forefront of this initiative. Our yard is reevaluating and reinforcing its safety protocols, placing a renewed emphasis on training, equipment maintenance, and hazard identification. By fostering a culture of safety consciousness, employees are empowered to take

by streamlining workflows and eliminating unnecessary complexities. This emphasis on simplicity allows for smoother operations, from receiving and processing orders to loading and delivering materials. One major improvement has been removing our C and D players. We had a fair number of employees who did not fit the culture we were building. With each removal, we noticed an increase in employee morale and productivity. Many of those previous employees were holding back our A and B players. This back-to-basics approach in safety and operations signifies a commitment to foundational values that drive success. By prioritizing safety, streamlining operations, embracing sustainability, and fostering meaningful customer relationships, the Burley yard is ensuring its employees’ well-being and setting a standard for excellence for the area.

ownership of their well- being and that of their colleagues, creating a work environment that is productive and interdependent. Moreover, a back- to-basics approach extends to operational processes. Our yard is increasing efficiency and reducing waste
