6.8.6 Rites of passage in ancient India Life events are signiýcant in many religions, such as baptisms in Catholicism and bar or bat mitzvahs in Judaism. In ancient India, samskara marked key moments in the lives of Hindus, Buddhists and Jains, with the most important samskara in Hinduism outlined in TABLE1 .
